‘Vecna: Eve of Ruin’ – The Edition Shattering Adventure Is Up For Pre-Order Now
Vecna: Eve of Ruin will shatter the D&D multiverse leading to a literal and metaphorical rewriting of the rules. Pre-order today.
5th Edition is coming to an end, and the archlich Vecna is ushering it in. In an adventure whose elevator pitch is basically, “the party must stop the release of 5.5e”, titled Vecna: Eve of Ruin, the archlich has set his sights on just ruining everyone’s day, including getting rid of all those pesky gods and the concept of good in general.
In order to stop him, players will have to travel across the multiverse to find allies and foil schemes. If that sounds familiar, that’s a very broad strokes idea of what happened in the last big adventure that ended an edition while also providing the in-game framework for explaining a rules-edition change.
Die Vecna, Die! is a much more evocatively titled Vecna-centric adventure that was the last AD&D book ever published. After that, came 3rd Edition. In Die Vecna, Die! players must face a multiverse-spanning plot enacted by Iuz the Evil, who has decided to destroy Vecna, to unleash and claim fantastic power for himself. Over the course of the adventure, the heroes travel to Ravenloft, Planescape, and Greyhawk.
These are some of the stops players will make in Vecna: Eve of Ruin, which is available for pre-order now.

As you might expect from WotC these days, you can pre-order the Digital + Physical bundle or just the Digital Only bundle. If you want just the book, you’ll have to wait for the book to hit your FLGS. For those who pre-order one of the digital versions on D&D Beyond, a bonus adventure awaits: Vecna: Nest of the Eldritch Eye. This is a one shot that you can play as early as April 16th, so keep an eye out for it then.
The new monsters will likely be the most 5.5E compatible we’ll see. So this is a chance to get an idea of what else awaits in the 2025 Edition of the Monster Manual.
