Warhammer 40K: New Kroot Trail Shaper Revealed
The Kroot reinforcements are coming and Games Workshop has revealed yet another Shaper joining the fight. Meet the new Trail Shaper!
Get ready for the Kroot refresh coming with the T’au Codex. We’ve got another Shaper inbound and this one is all about cutting a trail of their own — and they are guiding a few friends along the way.
“Trail Shapers are responsible for the overall plan of attack. As their name suggests, they prepare the battlefield for their army’s arrival by picking out routes for infiltration, identifying advantageous terrain, and choosing how their forces will fight.”

Armed with a Kroot Rifle, blades, and some grizzly trophies this Trail Shaper is ready to guide the Kroot into the fray. Not only is GW teasing this new model but we’re also getting a look at a few abilities, too.
First up, we get Trail Finding. This is a nice way to reposition the Trail Shaper when an enemy gets close. Use that D6″ move to either create some distance or cut off a charge. This isn’t the only trick the Shaper has either.
Kroot Ambush allows for some shenanigans for sure. According to WarCom:
“They, the unit they join, and a whole other Kroot unit melt into the background and reappear where they’re least expected – taking advantage of the Scouts 7” rule shared by almost all Kroot to pressure vulnerable troops away from their objectives.”
So not only do Kroot have Scout 7″ rule, with the Kroot Trail Shaper they can basically have the Trail Shaper and two units pop-up as a surprise for the enemy a whole lot closer than expected. That might seem like a little thing, but what else do you expect when the Kroot Ambush is ready to go?
