D&D: Take a Look Inside ‘Quests From the Infinite Staircase’ in a New Sneak Peek
A new video takes us all inside the upcoming Quests from the Infinite Staircase, a six-adventure blast highlighting D&D’s past.
You’ve played the preview adventure, Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth—and if you haven’t, you should click that link because you can download it for free—but now take a quick peek at the five other classic adventures featured in WotC’s upcoming adventure anthology, Quests from the Infinite Staircase.
The book, as I’m sure we all know by now, remasters six classic First Edition adventures for the modern day. What does that mean, exactly? Well, it’s no Final Fantasy 7. But these aren’t just direct ports either. Monsters get new stat blocks, there’s a sort of framing device for everything here in the form of the Infinite Staircase linking all of these together.
But by and large, these are the adventures from the heyday as they were run. As we got to see in a preview of the quests that you can find in the Infinite Staircase. Let’s take a look.
Quests From the Infinite Staircase – A Sneak Preview
Quests from the Infinite Staircase embraces the magic of the most beloved DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® adventures of all time. This handpicked collection contains 6 remastered first-edition adventures, complete with striking settings and a lovable cast of characters. These unforgettable quests can be run individually or as a delightful campaign that takes characters from level 1 to 13.
What’s really striking about these old adventures is how much of the foundations of what we consider to be modern D&D they accomplish. It isn’t just that these adventures are fun little modules to play, but in these adventures, often, new ground is tread for the first time that soon becomes a part of the greater D&D canon.
For instance, in the original Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, you’d see whole new monsters for the first time, including big ones like the demon princes Fraz-Urbluu and Graz’zt who would later appear in the Monster Manual II.
Likewise, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks introduced the Froghemoth to the game, but also several creatures whose statblocks have echoed through various monster manuals, including the Vegepygmy:
Or the Myconids, whose memorable appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most fun parts of the Underdark in Act 1.
Quests from the Infinite Staircase picked some weird adventures to be remastered here. From old favorites to unknown gems:
Rediscover 6 first edition adventures that have charmed fans for years.
