Thousand Sons armies are rising stars in Warhammer 40K right now. Here’s a mean one that loves it’s Forgefiend buddies.

I decided to look around at some of the winning 40K lists to see if I find something interesting.  This past weekend a lot of Thousand Sons armies did well even with the resurgence of Adeptus Custodes hitting the table tops.  It is an interesting time for sure as the Meta seems wide open with only one real army kind of lurking in the ole CSM/Aeldari range with Necron HyperCyrpt.

Thousand Sons seemed poised to do well as the army as a whole can be pretty tough, spike damage really well, and just kill things quickly with Mortal Wound spamming.  They also have a pretty spicy Primarch that flies around like a Knight. Plus, the T-Sons have one of the most powerful characters to power them up.  While their Cabalistic rituals are kind of clunky to use at times if you are not used to them – the army is very powerful and can quickly wreck things.

A Sample Winning Tournament List

Anthony Lineberry went even further on the damage train this past weekend by utilizing 3 Forgefiends for Thousand Sons. While they are not nearly as explosive as the CSM ones, they still have a nice secondary ability by suppressing the unit that gets shot and giving it a -1 to hit. Really, the bigger reason to take some of these guys is just having chonky fat-body robots sitting on your backfield objectives.

Using the Thousand Sons List

As you can see this army builds upon the normal Thousand Sons stuff and adds onto it with some Forgefiends to help anchor the backfield and allow the rest of his army to go forward aggressively and do stuff.  It seems like a neat addition and just having more Damage 3 is a good thing versus Custodes.  Every failed 4+ is a dead golden boy which is a good thing.

All is dust…
