‘Helldivers 2’ Sends Players to Go Liberate Their Next Update
Helldivers 2 has been teasing vehicles like Mechs and Rovers for a while now. A new wrinkle in the game leaves it up to the players to get them.
If you haven’t been playing Helldivers 2, you are missing out, friend. The game of Super Earth, Managed Democracy, and orbital bombardments against alien bugs and hostile robots is blowing up for a reason. The game’s PvE focus and larger-than-life aesthetic have captured the hearts of a player base eager to throw themselves into the galactic meatgrinder in the name of Freedom.
Just try not to think too hard about freedom for who, or what the actual costs are. It’s a real Starship Troopers scenario. But, like Starship Troopers, the game does tell a fascinating story. Only this one has a game master at the heart of it. And, a new post, sets off one of the best things about the game: the roleplaying.
While Helldivers are out fighting bugs and bots, the developers at Arrowhead Studios have been teasing new vehicles in a future update. Now, it looks like it’ll be up to the players to actually band together and make them happen.
Helldivers 2 – One of the Best Update Rollouts You’ll See
It all starts with some propaganda. Above is a poster from the Tien Kwan Production Facilities that is hard at work on the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit. This is one of many vehicles that folks are excited about. Only this very morning, in a new call to action, it seems like the in-game world of Tien Kwan is under siege:
A harrowing vision of the Helldivers’ much needed Exo-Suits in the hands of enemy Automaton follows suit.
And what’s more, production of the Exosuits has halted because the factories are under siege:
A new Major Order in the game calls on Helldivers to travel to Tien Kwan and fight to liberate the factories from the Automatons despotic actuators. Which is an incredible way to galvanize the playerbase. After all, if players want their mechs (and they do), they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for ’em.
It’s both in-character and it helps to build hype for the new stuff coming. The story, the narrative here is top notch. And it’s all thanks to the Helldivers’ tyrannical overlord, Joel, aka the Game Master behind the galactic war.
Especially in the wake of a new balance patch that may have players trying out new loadouts for the first time in a while. If you’re interested in having one of the best multiplayer experiences of the year, you’ll want to join the fight today.
Helldivers 2 is available on Steam and PS5.
