The First Omen takes us back to the start—Damien’s true demonic origin and the fight against his coming. Check out the new terrifying trailer.

The Omen is one of the all-time classic horror franchises. The first chapter came out in 1976. It tells the story of Robert Thorn and his wife, Kathy, who adopt a child from an orphanage in Rome and name him Damien. As the boy ages, it becomes clear that something isn’t right with him.

Ominous events start to happen to the family and those near them. Robert is warned by a priest that Damien isn’t human and that the boy is the antichrist. He must be stopped. No secret: they fail. Two sequels follow the demon child as he rises to power.

The original, the sequels, and the two reboots are streaming on Hulu right now. You have plenty of time to binge them all before The First Omen arrives in theaters.

The First Omen

The new movie rewinds the clock and explores Damien’s true origins. In the mid-1970s, a young woman named Margaret Daino is sent to Rome to serve the church. She uncovers a terrifying secret plot to bring forth the antichrist via a troubled girl with a dangerous aura. Powers are at play, trying to bring Margaret to their side. But who can she believe?

The new trailer shows just enough.

We’ve gotten some horrible additions to big franchises recently—I’m looking at you, Exorcist: Believer. Let’s hope this creepy vibe and growing sense of dread make it to the big screen. It has the potential to not be crap with its good cast and a director who has worked on fantastic projects Crossing my fingers..

Cast & Details

The cast is led by Nell Tiger Free (Servant). It also includes Tawkeef Barhom (The Rhythm Section), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman), and Bill Nighy. The movie is directed by Arkasha Stevenson (FX’s Legion). The screenplay is by Tim Smith, Arkasha Stevenson, and Keith Thomas (2022’s Firestarter).

“When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.”

The First Omen arrives in theaters on April 5th.
