Warhammer 40K: New Kroot Minis Up Close – It’s About Time
We’ve got the new Kroot Army Box and we’re taking a closer look at the assembled minis. This is a welcome refresh to their range.
Like the title says, it’s about time. The Kroot were getting long in the tooth (beak?) and were in need of a refresh. It was also kind of rough to get your hands on their models for a long time. Now, with the update and the new T’au Codex coming, the Kroot are back and mean business. We’ve got the models assembled and we’re going to take a closer look.
Kroot War Shaper
In the box you’ll get a bunch of the new miniatures. The first one up is the new Kroot War Shaper.
The War Shaper has a couple of different options when building it. We opted for what you’d see on the front of the box. It’s got a lot of great doo-dads all over the miniature. I personally really like the cape and the fact that it has texture on the inside as well as a lot of “stuff” happening on the back. It’s a great addition to the range.
Kroot Carnivores
We didn’t take a ton of pics of these guys but it’s not because there’s not a lot to like — there’s just a lot of them! There’s lots of new poses and perhaps equally as exciting lots of new weapon options for the squad. The Carnivores will form the backbone troop option for any Kroot-heavy lists and it’s great to see them get a new kit.
Krootox Rider
If I had to vote for my favorite single miniature from the box it’s going to the Krootox Rider. I love the revamp on this model and I really liked all the detail that was added. It’s impressive to see what the GW did to this as a concept. I liked their use to space on the model and how they added lots of little details. From the back harness and the texture to the reloads on the back of the gunner — it’s a great update!
Krootox Rampagers
The Krootox Rampagers are probably the most exciting unit in the box. They are completely new and great addition to the army. Why? Because they add a potent and cool close-combat option to the T’au in general. But, obviously, they have that Krootox DNA in their design. Large and in charge this is going to be a fun unit to build and paint. Lots of details and options to work with on the rampagers!
The first crack at all these models will be in the Kroot Hunting Pack Army Box that is currently up for Pre-order. Unfortunately, as of posting, this box is currently sold out online — you might want to see if you can score a copy from your FLGS!
