Warhammer 40K: Our AdeptiCon 2024 Wishlist – The Previews We Want To See
AdeptiCon 2024 is next week and Games Workshop is planning some big reveals. Here’s a few things we hope they show off for Warhammer 40,000.
As you probably are aware next week there will be a Warhammer Preview Show: AdeptiCon 2024 edition happening. It’s going to be Wednesday March 20th. You can read this article for more info on the timezones. That said, we know they have some previews coming for a TON of game systems.
Today we want to touch on the 40k side of things. We already have a road map so let’s get into what we hope to see next.
We already know that the T’au are about to drop thanks to the Kroot Army Box coming very soon. That leaves us with the following codexes coming up next in Spring of 2024 — in no particular order:
- Orks
- Adeptus Custodes
- Chaos Space Marines
Then in the Summer 2024 we have:
- Genestealer Cults
- Adepta Sororitas
- [Redacted]
The first thing we’re hoping to find out from AdeptiCon is what the [Redacted] Codex will be. Let’s just fill that blank out and start the hype train there.
The next thing we’re hoping to see is more from both the Custodes and Ork Codexes. We’re hoping it’s not just a new character for each and then done. Hopefully GW has a few new units waiting in the wings for both armies.
The new Mek does look pretty sick and I’m hoping we get a ton more Orks that are just as over the top as he is! Who knows, maybe the Mek will be the vanguard for a few more surprises in store.
After those two, the only codex left in the Spring slot is Chaos Space Marines. After the Arks of Omen events I’m hoping that we get a return to that plot point and we get some sort of update on what Abaddon and Vashtorr have been cooking up. They were kind of the drivers for the next jump forward and I know folks have been wanting both a Dark Mechanicus and Traitor Guard army for a long time. While those aren’t directly tied to CSM, they are kinda offshoots. And speaking of offshoots…
How about some Emperor’s Children news? I know that’s the model for Fulgrim in the Horus Heresy, but I’m just tossing that out there as a “well, they did it there — why can’t they do it in 40k?!” It makes sense as the Emperor’s Children are the last holdouts for a Codex Supplement for a major traitor legion. Then again, since we’re talking about the Chaos Space Marines let’s not forget some of the other Chaos Undivided options. Word Bearers and Iron Warriors would be rad. Heck, I’d settle for more Kill Team type squad upgrades:
GW could go nuts with these CSM Kill Team Squad Packs. I know I can’t be the only one crazy enough to think of turning these squads into entire armies.
Looking into the Summer, I don’t think that GW will go too hard on the teasers for Genestealer Cults or Adepta Sororitas. We might get a few peeks but with the next three armies about to drop they should have plenty of 40k teasers for us at the AdeptiCon show. However, since this is a wish list here’s the one crazy thing I hope we see:
Come on Zoat Army preview/teaser/reveal! We had a bunch of Rumor Engines joking about Zoats coming back. Hey, they did it with Squats…so it COULD happen.
