Warhammer Next Week: Kroot, Ash Wastes, and New Underworld Rivals
Next week’s pre-orders have a boxed set for the Kroot, of all things, but it’s also the first place you’ll get to check out the T’au Codex.
To understand Games Workshop’s relationship to the Kroot, you must first understand 2004’s Mean Girls. And while we don’t have the time to explain the whole movie, basically, Games Workshop is Gretchen. And the Kroot are “Fetch.”
Because no matter what, Games Workshop keeps trying to make them happen. And it’s just not gonna happen. But they have hope. A dogged determination. And as a result, we get a lot of hungry alien bird people with antiquated guns who die when you look at them funny.
In the new Kroot Boxed Set, though, you also get the first look at the T’au Codex.
Warhammer 40K: Kroot Hunting Pack, Stealth T’au Codex, and Ash Wastes Addendums
The Kroot Hunting Pack army set is a big box full of 20 new plastic Kroot Carnivores, a Krootox Rider, a veteran Kroot War Shaper, 3 Kroot Rampagers, and a Flesh Shaper. But you’ll want rules to run these new Kroot, or, if you would rather, for some weird reason use the advanced armor and heavy, long range firepower of the T’au, those as well; either way, the new T’au Codex is bundled in this box, and will be for a time:
Codex: T’au Empire contains all of the rules for the miniatures in the box and the rest of the T’au Empire’s forces, and comes with unique artwork. You also get a pack of 44 cards containing an army rule card, a double-sided drone rules card, four Combat Patrol datasheets and 38 T’au Empire Datasheets. The Codex and cards come in a special cardboard slipcase with an elastic strap so you can tote them around to your games.
Alongside the Kroot Hunting Pack and T’au Codex, the Ash Wastes of Necromunda get some creepy House Delaque reinforcements, which is exactly what you’d want out of them:
The Rogue Doc and Gang Lookout provide some excellent reinforcements to any House Delaque Gang. And if that’s not enough, you can give your entire House Delaque Gang an Ash Wastes makeover thanks to a new upgrade sprue:
This Forge World resin kit has 10 heads, two sets of 5 backpacks, and 10 flasks.
Underworlds: Deathgorge and Mirrored City Rivals
If you prefer the Mortal Realms, Warhamer Underworlds has you covered in spades. Starting with a brand new Warband for the Deathgorge season. Meet Zondara’s Gravebreakers. They call upon undeath and the bestial power of Ghur to do all sorts of things.
Or pick up the Rivals of the Mirrored City box, which gatehrs together ad updates four classic warbands from the earliest seasons of Warhammer Underworlds. You’ll get a refreshed version of Zarbag’s Gitz, Thorns of the Briar Queen, Mollog’s Mob, and Spiteclaw’s Swarm, all with new Rivals Decks featuring “refined and updated cards.”
All this, next week!
