Age of Sigmar: New Skaven Warlock Engineer – For SCIENCE!
The Skaven Warlock Engineers combine science and magic in very creative ways. Here’s a look at their new miniature!
By now, I hope you know that the Skaven are getting a refresh with the launch of the new edition. They’ve got some new models on the way and today we’re getting a first look at the new Skaven Warlock Engineers.
“The new Warlock Engineer is a sniper of surpassing skill, who uses warpstone-infused bullets to take down enemy characters from afar – the best place for any Skaven to be.”
Packing a warplock musket and a trusty spyglass to spot his targets from afar, the Warlock Engineer gearing up to take aim. Just how deadly will they be? We’ve got a look at their warscroll to find out!
This is a character that certainly wants to stay out of the scrapping up close. Thankfully, with that Warplock Musket, they should be able to. It does D3 damage and can crit to auto wound as well. Furthermore, you can juice up the attack with the More-More Warp Energy ability. It locks the damage at 3 for the rest of the round on a 2+. However, on a 1, the Engineer take D3 mortal damage instead.
I also like the Sniper-Master option as it allows this unit to enhance nearby Warplock Jezzails units, too. Heroes will not be safe with these on the tabletop.
“Ignoring the Guarded Hero ability is obviously fantastic, but… what is a Guarded Hero, exactly? These are leaders and characters who are protected by the press of friendly bodies around them – much like the old Look Out, Sir! rule – making them harder to snipe with a cheeky arrow or glowing musket round. “
Once more, GW did mention this is just one of “a number of Skaven characters returning to the game” so you can expect more Skaven soon. I have a funny feeling the rat invasion is going to surprise us all.
Warlock Engineers next to Jezzails are going to be a high priority target for a lot of armies…
