Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to sweep the awards, this time winning all five major awards at the BAFTA Game Awards in London.

Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be an absolute milestone. A benchmark. A bar raiser. It is all of these things and more because it is, at its heart, a very good game made by people who care passionately about it. And they managed to capture lightning in a bottle.

If you haven’t played Baldur’s Gate 3 by now, then I would get if all this hype seems strange and overblown, but believe me when I tell you it’s winning all these awards for a reason. And the British Academy of Film and Television Arts seems to think so as well, since Baldur’s Gate 3 swept the awards, taking home five big BAFTA prizes, which I assume look like a cup of tea or Big Benjamin or a big plate of chicken tikka masala. You know, iconic British things.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Wins Five BAFTAs

Larian Studios’ massive RPG that could win five different awards, including the public-voted EE Player’s Choice Award, as well as Best Narrative, Best Music, and Best Performer in a Supporting Role, which went to Andrew Wincott, the actor who plays Raphael, and of course, Best Game.

And the competition was pretty steep. Other games in contention were Dave the Diver, Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and, of course, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Those are all extremely good games. I’m still playing Dave the Diver and Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s 2024.

These five BAFTAs join the massive cabinet of awards Baldur’s Gate 3 has been racking up. Including six wins at The Game Awards last year, including Game of the Year and Best Performance for Neil Newbon, who portrays Astarion, as well as Game of the Year and Best Narrative at the Game Developers Choice Awards just a few weeks ago.

And these are just a handful of the many accolades heaped on the game. What well-deserved wins for everyone involved. If you haven’t started Baldur’s Gate 3, now is the perfect time to do so. Tell your boss you’re sick (you can run a thermometer under hot water to make it look as though you have a fever) and then spend the rest of today through, say, Tuesday next exploring. And if you have, well, time to start another playthrough.

Congratulations to everyone at Larian!
