D&D: WizKids has a Massive Red Ghost Dragon Mini in the Works
WizKids has a glorious new “huge-sized miniature” in the works. Soon, your table can be haunted by a colossal Red Ghost Dragon.
There has to be a better way to refer to miniatures that aren’t really, uh, miniature. From Warhammer 40K’s Titans to the colossal dragons that adorn the shelves of your one friend who doesn’t seem to “have a normal job” or “keep consistent hours,” but boy, howdy, do they have the best Dungeons & Dragons set up you’ve ever seen.
Suspicious lifestyle choices not withstanding, there are plenty of miniatures out there that really seem to stretch the definition. Including WizKid’s newly unveiled Red Ghost Dragon miniature, which is due to release in September 2024. The Red Ghost Dragon gives rise to a whole new kind of tabletop terror. WizKids Unveils D&D Icons of the Realms: Red Ghost Dragon
Some dragons’ attachment to their hoard is so strong that even slaying them won’t end their obsession. These dragons return as ghosts, often haunting a single priceless piece of treasure. They resemble a ghostly dragon, and while their breath weapons may resemble fire, lightning, or acid, they carry a terrifying curse.
The D&D Icons of the Realms: Red Ghost Dragon is a Huge-sized miniature on a 100mm base with 75mm threat ring. Cast entirely in ghostly translucent materials and standing 10 inches tall, this undead dragon makes for a great campaign antagonist or deathly addition to your dragon collection.
Ghost Dragons were introduced in Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons. Ghost Dragons take on the appearance of whatever dragon they were in life but take on unique stat blocks all their own. This is perhaps why WizKids has picked the Red Dragon for this miniature, as they’re one of the apex predators in the game’s collected manuals of monsters.
But this means that you could have a ghost dragon of any color. This is perhaps why WizKids is releasing a Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures version of it, that is to say, releasing a primed, ready-to-paint version of it:
