The author has great news for fans: work on Good Omens Season 3 is underway, and a filming window is set.

When Good Omens Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, it wasn’t assured that there would be a third. Neil Gaiman assured fans they’d get an ending and that he’d finish out the story in a book rather than leave them hanging. It turned out that won’t be needed – the series’ final season was greenlit late last year.

I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story [the late Terry Pratchett] and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006. Terry was determined that if we made ‘Good Omens’ for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.

There’s no release date for Good Omens Season 3 yet, but Gaiman has revealed that he’s working on the script. He told Deadline filming will start early next year.

You know, Dead Boy Detectives comes out in 10 days. I’ve seen half of Sandman Season 2, and it’s astonishing. I’m writing Good Omens Season 3, and we start shooting that in January.

While this means more time to wait, it’s a relief to know that Crowley and Aziraphale’s story will get a proper ending.

What to Watch While You’re Waiting for Good Omens Season 3

Do you need a fix before the next seasons of Sandman and Good Omens drop? Check out Dead Boy Detectives. It centers on Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who were created by Neil Gaiman and introduced the Sandman comics. After their initial story, the pair tell Death that they’d like to stay on Earth as ghosts. They use their eternity haunting the mortal plain to investigate supernatural crimes.

It debuts on Netflix on April 25, which is next week.
