Warhammer 40K Next Week: The T’au Arrive – Mostly With Kroot
Next week’s pre-order releases feature the Greater Good of the T’au Empire, which mostly means a bunch of new Kroot minis.
The Kroot are interstellar mercenaries and also one of the biggest factions under the T’au Empire’s sphere of influence. These carnivorous bird people gain power by eating prey, often hunted or killed in battle, and are much more skilled in close up combat than their T’au counterparts.
Which is, perhaps, why they feature so heavily in the T’au Empire’s release week. Yes, next week sees the new Codex: T’au Empire hit pre-order, bringing the technological might of all your newly-fixed Battlesuit configurations into the latest edition of the rules. And new Kroot seem intent on leading the charge, which they may well do, hopefully without being shot to pieces by armies that carry any sort of heavy anti-infantry power.
Codex: T’au Empire and Friends
Inside the book, as you may well expect, are all the detachments and datasheets you need for your T’au miniatures, as well as the new Kroot models, updated lore, Combat Patrol and Crusade rules, and all the other stuff that makes a codex a Codex.
And accompanying them are mostly the Kroot. Starting with three new Kroot Shapers. There’s the War Shaper, who leads from the front, the Trail Shaper, who is all about ambushes, and of course, the Flesh Shaper, who is both shaman and chef.
The Kroot also get a new elite model in the form of a Kroot Lone-Spear who rides into batle on a Kalamandra beast. These deadly hunters through explosive javelins, presumably bigging down vehicles and bigger prey, if they can get close enough to make the throw.
The new Krootox Rider looks even more menacing. Armed with a massive Kroot gun, a Kroot Rider can lay in with heavy firepower while on the move.
But if you need fighting up close, you might want to check out the new Krootox Rampagers, who are ridden by melee warriors to deliver double the close combat.
A new box of Carnivores gives the Kroot more weapon options.
While the Kroot Hounds, as ever, are there to chase down anyone who tries to run.
But what if you want a little T’au Empire with your new Codex: T’au Empire?
If that’s the case, you’ll want to pick up the new Combat Patrol box. This gets you an Enforcer Battlesuit, a Breacher Team, 10 Pathfinders, a Devilfish, and a couple of drones.
Made to Ork-der Minis
Then of course there are the Orks. These classic miniatures are back once more, made to order for a limited time. You can pic up an Ork Dreadnought.
Or grab some Blood Axe Kommandos.
Or even just a squad of Nobz to kick in some heads and unload the dakka.
Horus Heresy – Solar Auxilia Reinforcement
The Horus Heresy gets a brand new wave of reinforcements. A new kit unlocks both the Solar Auxilia Basilisk and Medusa, depending on whether you want an Earthshaker cannon or Medusa mortar.
While the Hermes Light Sentinel squadron brings in a pair of walkers with heavy firepower, fast speed, and pilots who likely wish they were more enclosed by armor plating than they actually are.
All this, next week!
