Warhammer 40K: Combat Patrol T’au Pricing Breakdown – Deal or No Deal?
The new Combat Patrol: T’au Empire box is up for pre-order. Is this one going to be a sweet deal or should you skip on this one?
We already talked about the Sudden Dawn Cadre Combat Patrol rules and what’s inside. Now let’s take a deeper dive at what’s coming from a price point of view. We all know the price of the box is $160. But does that make it a good deal based on what’s inside? Time to do some basic math to find out.
T’au Combat Patrol – Sudden Dawn Cadre
10x Fire Warrior Breachers $60
Total Individual MSRP: $225
Total Savings: $65
That’s not the most savings we’ve seen in a Combat Patrol box but it’s certainly not bad at all. One thing that is worth mentioning is that while the picture doesn’t show all the drones, you do in fact get all of the drones you’d get in their respective boxes. You also get 3 Infantry Decal sheets and a vehicle decal sheet, too.
As a starter/intro into the T’au army I think this is actually a good set. You get a lot of bodies, a way to transport them, and a T’au Commander which is always a strong option. It doesn’t lean into the Kroot releases like the Army set either. That might be a good thing for some folks who want to run Kroot and T’au units in a mixed army. And with zero overlap there it’s actually a good deal for collectors, too.
Would I recommend two of these sets? Honestly…yeah, I think this is a good boxed set to double up — if you’re brand new to T’au. Just about everything can be build as a different unit or have a different load out for their wargear. You’ll likely find a good use for the miniatures in your army or collection. And I really do think the old T’au “shoot and scoot” playstyle could be just as effective in the current edition. Especially with the need to move out and take objectives.
If you’re starting a new T’au army definitely double-up on this Combat Patrol.
