‘Critical Role’s ‘Daggerheart’: Check Out the 1.4 Update, Now With Easier Downloads
The Daggerheart 1.4 update has just arrived, meaning now you can check out the latest update to Critical Role’s fantasy RPG.
Critical Role‘s Darrington Press just released a brand new update for Daggerheart. Titled Daggerheart 1.4, the new update gathers together some exciting rules updates and also comes with a new adventure soon to follow. Get ready to try out the latest version of the rules in 1.4.
While it’s not as extensive as the 1.3 updated released earlier this year, the latest version does have a couple of pretty big changes that should make creating a character spicier than ever. Including the ability to play a character with multiple ancestries. Let’s take a look.
Daggerheart 1.4 Update Goes Live
Here’s a look at the Daggerheart 1.4 announcement:
The latest Open Beta Playtest materials are accessible at Daggerheart.com, Demiplane, and DriveThruRPG. Take note that when you download the materials on the Daggerheart.com website, we have now separated out the files into individual downloads—we know that sometimes internet connections can be slow, so we hope this helps you access the files you need more easily.
As always, the Change Log outlines everything you need to know about the changes, but there are some new and updated files worth calling out specifically:
- NEW: GM Reference Guide
- UPDATED: Quickstart Adventure The Sablewood Messengers
Coming SOON will also be a NEW Tier 1 Adventure (Levels 2–4): The Marauders of Windfall, which works perfectly with your own characters standalone OR as a continuation of The Sablewood Messengers and its pre-generated characters! Stay tuned for a future #DaggerheartDrop.
Among the more exciting changes in this ruleset are the changes to Ancestries. Ancestries will now grant two different features. Characters may be able to mix and match ancestry features with GM permission.
Speaking of GMs, the new update has more guidance for GM NPCs as well as an optional rule that allows them to roll a critical success on attacks. I’ve got to imagine there are plenty of GMs who are going to opt in to that rule. Same with updates to Druids and Advantage. You can find the full list of patch notes here.
