Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Silver Sable Helps Your Squad …For A Price
The mercenary Silver Sable is a professional in the superhero world. Let’s see her skills on the tabletop in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
Deadpool might be the Merc with a Mouth, but Silver Sable is the Merc with the skills to pay the bills. She’s coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol and she’s bringing those talents to the tabletop in some explosive ways.
“Hailing from the small nation of Symkaria, Silvija was trained from a young age to be a mercenary. Quickly taking to her father’s lessons, she took the moniker of Silver Sable and founded Silver Sable International. Initially intended to bring war criminals to justice, her outfit would start to accept more lucrative missions for higher profits as they gained more and more international fame. This would put her into direct contact with infamous and famous individuals, such as Spider-Man, Captain America, and Red Skull. Always in complete control of the mission, her leadership, advanced technology, and considerable martial skills ensure that Silver Sable International always gets the job done.”
Silver Sable – Getting The Job Done
Coming in as another 4 threat character she’s got 5 stamina and a defense of 3/3/3. Honestly, that’s pretty average at this point so stat-wise that’s not impressing me too much. But I think her abilities might make up for it. Tactical Takedown is her basic builder attack. It’s range 5 and 5 dice which is one of the longest shots out there. Silver Sable only gets 1 energy off the attack but that’s regardless if it does damage. Additionally, she can trigger a Tranquilized and Bringing You In with that attack. This can combo for a Root and also a a Push towards Silver Sable.
Headshot is also mean. It’s another range 5 attack with 6 damage this time. It also costs 3 energy which seems a little steep. However, it can trigger Concussion which applies the stun condition. Oh and if the target is outside of range 3 they don’t get cover AND it does two additional damage if it’s going to cause damage. Again, that’s mean as it’s basically a minimum of 3 damage before any other damage reduction. Impressive.
Shot Caller is a great way to move a friendly and also get them some energy. This makes Silver Sable a great long range battery — for both damage and buffs. Keep her in the back clicking heads and boosting friendlies. She also has a neat (and weird) buff with Want My Help? Pay Up. which allows her to “assist” for a price of 2 energy. She gains 1 of those energy and the allied character gets to add 1 additional die to the attack. Personally, I see this as a net gain for the extra die and 1 energy transferring to Silver Sable.
When she gets injured she does gain 1 more stamina and goes to 6. She also trades out Want My Help? Pay Up. for Protect The Asset! which is a completely different ability. This one allows for what’s essentially a counter-attack for 2 energy. Silver Sable does use Tactical Takedown so she would get 1 of the spent energy back. Paying 1 energy for a counter-attack seems like a no-brainer in my book. And finally Sniper Nest is her secret weapon to boost her 3 defense. This adds 2 dice to any physical or energy based attacks if she’s overlapping a terrain feature of 3 or more and the attacking character isn’t on the same feature. With Wall Crawler this seems like a pretty easy boost to pull off…provided you’ve got some size 3 terrain around.
Silver Sable has some additional cards as well. Two of which are Defenders affiliation cards…Gee, I wonder if she’s going to be a Defender!? Also Sable International is a great way to justify her 4 threat cost as well. That’s just bonus VP to be made there.
Silver Sable is arriving with Shang-Chi in a new Character Pack box. The release date is July 12, 2024 and it’s currently up for Pre-Order from Asmodee right now.
It might be time to call in some help from Sable International!
