Alright Necromunda fans — we’re heading back into the Hive. Just not the one you might have thought. It’s Hive Secundus time.

In the next season of Necromunda we’re going to be delving deep into the mysterious and deadly Hive Secundus. It was raised to the ground and the ruins were declared quarantined. But there’s secrets to be found, knowledge to be gained, and (most importantly) credits to be made! It’s time to delve deep into Necromunda: Hive Secundus.

Hive Secundus

The story of Hive Secundus is a tragic one. The long and short of it is that the Homeatis Magus came to the Hive to work on experiments to see if he could cure the Genestealer “curse” — which is to say find a way to protect the Imperium from becoming infected with Genestealer genetics. If he was successful, he could have really stalled the Tyranid advance on the Galaxy. But, as you might expect, it didn’t pan out.

Anyhow, this ushered in the Cult of the Second Son. And eventually, this cult led to a rebellion and the Hive was nuked from orbit. This created a huge scar on the planet as a series of crater now stand where the great Hive Secundus once was. The worst part is…this didn’t even finish the job.

The Patriarch wasn’t killed but he was horrifically mutated. This lead to a corrupted strand of Genestealers called the Malstrain Genestealer.

There was an exclusion zone setup around the Hive called the Dust Wall. And now, Spyrers venture into the remains hunting Genestealers.

New Malstrain Genestealers

What’s really cool about the new Malstrain Genestealers is just how mutated and down-right freaky they are. They are twisted and hunched and just look like a really messed up offshoot of the Standard Genestealer. In fact, what’s really ironic about these Malstrain Genestealers is that in the lore their psychic beacon they send back to the Hive Mind is so messed-up, it actually makes the Tyranid fleets avoid them.

In a way, perhaps there is a sort of salvation from the Tyranids now hidden within Hive Secundus after all.

The Spyrers Return

The Horus Spyrer is back with a new suit and some menacing design changes. First up, you might notice the proportions of their suits are quite …different. These nobles from House Helmawr have undergone body modifications to fit in these suits from off world. They have to go into Hive Secundus and up their kill-tally to prove their worth back home. However, they can’t go in alone.  That’s where the Van Saar Tek Hunters come in. But that’s not the only thing creeping in the Hive.

Aside from the Genestealers, Spyers, and the Van Saar Tek Hunters there’s also a new gang to contend with. And this is their home turf. The Brood Scum there to help support those Malstrain Genestealers, too.
