‘Total War’: Warhammer Developer Reportedly Working on a Star Wars Game
This might be the one that dooms us all. Developer Creative Assembly is reportedly working on a Total War: Star Wars game.
If the rumors are true, this spells disaster for getting anything else done. Over the weekend, DualShockers reported that Creative Assembly, developers of the impossibly huge Total War: Warhammer collection, have three new titles in the works. And one of them, according to “a reliable source” is a Star Wars game.
Just imagine, for a moment, taking control of the many battlefields of the Star Wars galaxy. Commanding battalions of Stormtroopers or Rebellion forces. Or if it’s set during the Clone Wars, the Clonetroopers vs. the Separatists. The list goes on, and the saliva builds up in the mouth as a result.
I know it’s gross, but it’s also true. They’re also working on some other titles, and a big update for Pharaoh, but nobody cares because Star Wars is also present. And that’s what the people want.

A few things, though. This is just a rumor, though the story seems to have a little more teeth to it. But before you go getting your hopes all the way up, it’s important to keep in mind that Sega is fresh off of a huge round of layoffs. Among many in the industry right now.
That said, if the source proves to be as reliable as DualShockers suggests, then it feels like a big step for the Total War series. If they pull it off right, this may well pave the way for another sci-fi war series that Total War fans have been clamoring for since the release of Total War: Warhammer.
Because if anyone can tackle the grim darkness of war in the 41st millennium it’s Creative Assembly. They’re already working with Games Workshop. One assumes the licensing would be so easy, since the liaising is already in place.
But let’s not put any cart before any horse just yet. For now, Creative Assembly has made no official announcement. Maybe keep an eye out later this year when big announcement season rolls around. For now, keep that cautious optimism in play.
And maybe start to figure out how which get rich quick scheme might actually pay off in time for you to just play the game nonstop.
What would you want to see in a Total War: Star Wars – or Total War: 40K for that matter?
