Video Games: ‘Dungeons & Dragons x Destiny 2’ Crossover Brings The Loot
Bungie and Wizards of the Coast have teamed up to bring one EPIC set of loot together in Destiny 2. Right on time for The Final Shape.
Dungeons & Dragons is back with another video game crossover. Hot on the heels of a rather impressive collaboration with Dead by Daylight, WotC has teamed-up once again with another video game. (Never) forget the loot cave because the good cosmetics are in the Eververse store. And to be honest…this is probably going to make me drop some silver this time around.
Destiny 2 X Dungeons & Dragons
“We’re thrilled to announce Bungie’s latest collaboration with Wizards of the Coast, and the iconic gaming franchise, Dungeons & Dragons, as Wizards celebrates the 50th anniversary of D&D. Faerûn-inspired looks will be available at the Eververse store on June 4, alongside the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Shape. The Gold Dragon-themed Apex Draconic set for Titans, the Mind Flayers-themed Flayer’s Dominion set for Warlocks, and the Displacer Beast’s-themed Spectral Displacer set for Hunters.
Additionally, the Adventurer’s Pack Bundle will include a Queen of Dragons ship, the Owlbear Chariot, and the Eye Tyrant Ghost Shell. More cosmetics include the Bigby’s Fist Finisher and the Natural 20 Emote, which will be randomly rolled each time it’s used, as the fates designed. “
The armor sets are certainly themed correctly! Titans (on the left) are rocking a Gold Dragon themed set. The Warlocks (middle) are wearing a Mind Flayer set. And the Hunter are (fittingly) wearing a Displacer Beast set.
Out of the three sets, I’ve got to give this one to the Hunters. Those Displacer Beast tendrils are too good. Then I’d go with the Warlock set as the Mind Flayer helm is both spot on and creepy.
Warlock (on left with the Exotic weapon Buried Bloodline — not included in the Adventurers Pack) and the Hunter with Wish-Ender (also not included and with the Whaler’s Whim weapon ornament applied).
The Titan set is last for me — and I say this as a Titan main. There’s something about the eyes and helmet that’s not clicking with me. However, this being an entirely cosmetic set that has no impact on gameplay, I can’t wait to see what the shaders will look like on these bad boys. Perhaps I’ll try to shade the Displacer Beast set with a white shader and have an albino Displacer Beast! Or…I’ll bust out the Superblack shader on that Titan set for an epic looking Black Dragon!
The footage does indeed have this crew of Guardians running through a dungeon. In fact, it’s the most recent dungeon called Warlord’s Ruin. I remember running through that one many times thinking “this would be a cool D&D dungeon crawl location.” Whelp, it seems like Bungie thought so, too! Maybe with this new Destiny 2 drip, I’ll finally be motivated to tackle this triumph…
The real reason you run that Dungeon (besides the actual challenge) is for the loot. Indebted Kindness (legendary side-arm) and Buried Bloodline (exotic side-arm) are stupid good.
Anyhow, here’s a look at the back/side of the armor from this set:
Now you might be wondering when this set drops. This is all kicking off next week — just in time for the next expansion: The Final Shape.
This collection launches June 4, 2024… Is the Final Shape actually a D20?!
Personally, I’m happy that this is another cool crossover. We’ve had sets/crossovers from Assassin Creed, God of War, Mass Effect, and now Dungeons & Dragons in Destiny 2. It’s cool to see these types of nods to other games from other developers. And now we’ve got one from a completely different type of game! Actually, wait-a-minute…don’t you just murder-hobo around slaughtering your enemies looking for the best loot and experience in both games?! I guess a D&D&D2 crossover DOES make a lot of sense!
Destiny players know that it’s actually called ‘DRESStiny’ — fashion is the real end game, jumping puzzle are the real raid bosses, and inventory space is your toughest enemy.
