Wizkids Announces Free Strahd Mini and More for ‘Free RPG Day’

But, the fact that everyone loves Strahd is pretty exciting considering WizKids’ latest announcement for Free RPG Day. The popular miniature maker announced three free miniatures coming to this year’s Free RPG Day, including a melodramatic Strahd miniature that absolutely rules.
There’s a full month to go. So be sure and hit up your friendly local game store on June 22nd. But if you want to see the three new miniatures, keep scrolling.
Strahd von Zarovich and two Wyrmlings for WizKids Free RPG Day 2024
Per WizKids announcement on Twitter, there are three miniatures all in all. The first two are gem dragon wyrmlings, and the third is a vampire:
Celebrate your love of RPGs at your local game store and score some sweet swag. Add to your collection with the Topaz Dragon Wyrmling, the Amethyst Dragon Wyrmling and the terrifying vampire Strahd von Zarovich!”
First up we have the gem dragon wyrmlings. The Topaz Dragon Wyrmling is beautifully done up in translucents, reflecting its gem-like nature. Or is that refracting. Either way, it captures the essence of the psionic dragon, which can cast Bane with no components, as well as exhaling a devastating breath. Of course, if you want to have the grown-up version of a Topaz Dragon, WizKids also has you covered.
But, that will run you a little bit more. The same goes for the Amethyst Dragon. Amethyst Dragons are typically a little chonkier. Though all Wyrmlings have a similar silhouette in terms of sizing. They haven’t yet stood out as much as they’re going to over the centuries.
But yeah, you can kinda see the resemblence. Amethyst Dragons are much more powerful. They have a potent list of psionic spells, as well as having a breath weapon unlike most other dragons: a singularity breath, which creates a shining bead of gravitational force and then unleashes it upon whomever is in range. They’re pulled in, take damage, and are immobilized. Fun stuff.
Of course all that pales in comparison to Strahd, who is partially transforming to or from a swarm of bats, from the look of it. Just look at his poise. His grace. No wonder they say he is the land.
At any rate, you may want to speak to your friendly local gaming store to make sure that you can secure these miniatures come Free RPG Day.
