D&D: ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Patch 7 Adds Official Mod Tools
A new patch will bring official modding tools to Baldur’s Gate 3. Patch 7 promises to put the world at your fingertips.
Larian Studios announced a new Patch for the seminal cRPG, Baldur’s Gate 3 today, promising to implement a feature many players are excited about. Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 will bring official modding tools to the groundbreaking game. And while plenty of mods already exist for the game, this will only further expand the possibilities.
Especially for console players.
Larian Studios will be hard at work over the next few months. Patch 7 is slated for September, but an official Closed Alpha begins today. With a phased rollout plan, and a dedicated pipeline of modsers and testers, hopefully the road to September will smooth out whatever bumps may lie in store.
Larian Studios Announces Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 7 Saying “Give Lae’zel a Mullet”
Per Larian’s announcement, Patch 7 will be due out in September, and will offer folks the opportunity to test out the mod tools before final release:
Coming to you this September, the next major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 will also introduce an officially sanctioned toolkit for giving Lae’zel a mullet. I mean, sure, go for it. You only live once.
Patch 7 testing is now being split into a two-phase process, which begins with working closely with a small team of mod authors from the community.
The testing begins with a closed alpha, starting today. If you know, you know, I guess. But in July, registration opens up for a closed beta with 1,000 players able to get in.
All of this is designed to ramp up to September when the toolkit will be officially released. But it’s not just the modding tools. Larian has also teased new evil endings for Patch 7, including all new cinematics.
And in the announcement, they also talk about other features still in the works, including an in-game photo mode and crossplay, for those of you who still haven’t had the opportunity to do some multiplayer mayhem.
