We’ve got a new Rumor Engine to chew on and this one looks rather odd. What could Games Workshop possibly be teasing this time?

Welcome to a new Tuesday and that means a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. This one is a strange one. I’ve got some theories but before I dive too far into them you really need to take a look for yourself.

“After a few pretty easy ones this month – so long as you know what claws and blades are, I suppose – we’re back to some classic Rumour Engine confusion. What in the eight realms is this? Is it made of leather? Is that fur behind it? Why does it look like a jellyfish?”

Nurgle’s Plate

Alright, first up I think one of the clues is in the text. It does refer to the “eight realms” which is a reference of course to the eight mortal realms from Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. I think that’s where this image is going to be from so at least we can focus there. Next up, I’m pretty sure that’s not a jellyfish so much as horse-armor. And I’m also pretty sure that the “plate” there is in three segments of a bell. And all those bulbus bits remind me of something else, too:

Now, I’m not 100% sure that this is a rider of Nurgle or something else. For example, we know the Skaven are getting a major revamp with the new edition. and if that is fur, well, that could be something plague monk related.

Keep in mind that many of the Nurgle-related options were getting cut. Likely to make room for new models if we had to guess.

Perhaps the Skaven are getting some new mounted unit and that armor is just what they are wearing. Then again, there’s also the other Chaos followers to think about.

I could easily see GW dropping some new mortal followers of Nurgle with a new mounted unit. A Varanguard style unit with more Nurgle iconography would be sick.

I know we already have Blightlords but perhaps GW is adding a new character or something else that’s Nurgle-related. Whatever the case at this point I’m locked in and can’t unsee it. So here’s where you come in. If you’ve got any other theories I want to read about them in the comments. What are you seeing that I’m missing — share it with the rest of the class. That’s the fun of the Rumor Engines afterall!

If it ain’t Nurgle, what is it!?
