Thor and the Asgardians are getting a new character pack. It’s time we got a few characters to rival them in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Coming soon from Atomic Mass Games is a new character pack for Thor and the Asgardians.

These characters are pretty beefy already and the Asgardian affiliation is a powerhouse as is. That said, there are a few other characters and gods from Marvel Comics that haven’t made the leap to the tabletop that could certainly hold their own.

Absorbing Man

Absorbing Man, aka Carl “Crusher” Creel, is a classic Thor villain. His power is exactly what his name is — he can touch an object and absorb its properties. Many times he’ll touch a metal or some other object and then dish out a beating. Against Thor, he’ll comically touch Mjolnir and take on the properties of Uru metal. Unfortunately for him he also (sometimes) absorbs the enchantment on Mjolnir which leads to some cartoony interactions. The point is he’s a classic Thor mainstay and I think adding him to the tabletop could prove to be a fun move. Plus, I can imagine he’d have some crazy defensive power where he can absorb the attack type to gain better defense. I’ll leave the game design to AMG though.

Destroyer

If you watched the first MCU Thor movie than you’re at least vaguely familiar with the Destroyer character. This really isn’t a character per-se… it’s really an enchanted suit of armor. I won’t get into all the details but it’s powered by Odin (and a few other Marvel gods) and it’s extremely juiced-up. It’s nigh indestructible as it’s made of a mystery metal that’s possibly stronger than Adamantium and Uru. The thing about this armor is that it does require some sort of “life force” to pilot it. Depending on who’s writing it how much “life force” is required can change, too. Look — the point here is that Destroyer is an enchanted animated suit of armor that can do some serious damage. If you need a Sentinel-sized threat to take on Thor and his buddies, then Destroyer is it!

Ares

You know which characters are generally pretty good at taking on god-like characters? Other god-like characters! Why not toss Ares in the mix? I’m not going to get into the history of the Marvel Comics version of Ares. But let’s just say he’s been on both sides of the “good-guy” line before. I’d like to see him on the tabletop duking it out with the other characters. Besides, Ares lives for a good fight! I think he’d be a great addition to Marvel: Crisis Protocol!

Gorr, The God Butcher

Gorr’s story is a tragic one. If you saw Thor: Love and Thunder, then you also got to see parts of it. Needless to say he’s dubbed “The God Butcher” for a very good reason. He’s considered one of Thor’s greatest foes and wields the Necrosword. This sword has its own history and it’s also kind of nuts. Regardless, Gorr uses the sword to do exactly what you’d expect. If there was a character that needed to be brought in to deal with the Asgardians then Gorr could do that quite handily!

Hercules

I mean, c’mon! Hercules and Thor go waaaaay back and they have a “friendly” competition going on between them. I really don’t think I need to go into explaining why Hercules would be awesome to add to MCP. Personally, I just think an Ares and Hercules character pack would be awesome. It would also open the door to a whole other side of the Marvel Universe for a bunch of new characters to add.

What characters would you want to bring to the tabletop to tackle the Asgardians?
