Next week’s pre-order releases see a number of the Heresy’s heroes, depending on whose side you’re on, as well as Imperialis reinforcements for days.

Next week is a big one for small miniatures. With a rollout of battle groups for both the Legiones Astartes and the Solar Auxilia, there’s a ton of tiny tanks you’ll soon be able to wage war with atop a table near you. Of course, it’s not just the epic battles you’ll have to deal with. It’s the epic heroes too.

Although these epic heroes are personalities who came to the foreground during the Horus Heresy, their miniatures are modern and stylish. From the conflicted Hibou Khan, to a guy they call “Little Horus”. All this, next week!

Heresy Heroes

First up, a pair of heroic figures from the Horus Heresy who decided to remain loyal to the Emperor. Though, in at least one of these cases, it took a little bit longer to make that ultimate decision, notably Hibou Khan, Seeker of Atonement.

He was initially part of the White Scars that was forcibly going to side with Warmaster Horus, but then eventually atoned in combat, the way that it goes in the world of 40K. With a giant two-handed power sword, he carved the face clean off of “Little” Horus Aximand.

And then there’s Shadrak Meduson, who in addition to having a cool name, was also a dedicated survivor. As Master of the Shattered Legions, Meduson has gathered up survivors from the Raven Guard and Salamanders and harangued Horus at every turn. Well, his forces anyway.

Speaking of ol’ Little Horus, there’s Horus Aximand, one of the most devoted of Horus’ Captains. He carries a big shield and a broadsword, but neither were able to keep his face from being sliced off. They put it back on, as you can see, but I bet it hurt like you wouldn’t believe.

Or grab Tybalt Marr, favored agent of Horus, whose brutal tactics make him a deadly threat on any flank.

Legiones Imperialis – Astartes and Auxilia

Tanks are the name of the game in next week’s pre-order releases for Legiones Imperialis. With not one, but two Battle Group boxed sets. Starting with the Legiones Astartes Battle Group boxed set, which has an absolute devastation of miniatures, including: 4 Kratos Heavy Tanks, 10 Rhinos, 4 Leviathan Dreadnoughts, 4 Deredeo Dreadnoughts, 4 Rapiers, 4 Tarantulas, 2 Command Squads, 8 Tactical Legionary bases, 2 Terminator bases, 2 Assault Marine bases, 4 Support Legionary bases, 4 Contemptor Dreadnoughts, 4 Outrider bases, 6 Scimitar Jetbike bases, 4 Javelins, and 4 Land Speeders.

For those who prefer their future soldiers to not also be transhuman supermutants, there’s the Solar Auxilia Battle Group. This contains, 2 Baneblades, 12 Rapiers, 4 Cyclops, 12 Taranulas, 2 Legate Commander bases, 8 Auxiliary bases, 4 Veletarii bases, 4 Auxiliary bases with flamers, 4 Charonite Ogryn bases, 4 Aethon Heavy Sentinels, 6 Dracosan transports, and 8 Lemans Russ.

If that isn’t enough tanks for you, you can also supplement your forces with an additional Leman Russ strike force containing eight tanks that can be built with battle cannon or Vanquisher cannon.

Or for the Astartes, you can pick up a Predator Squadron, which comes with six tanks, each of which can be outfitted with a Predator Cannon or twin-linked Lascannons and sponsons in either heavy bolter or lascannon.

All this, next week!
