Skaventide ushers in a whole new era of Age of Sigmar next week, as a big boxed set and more go up for preorder.

What is it with Skaven and tides. First it was the rise of the Vermintide (great game, by the way) that heralded the end of the World that Was. And now it’s Skaventide, which isn’t just a new boxed set, it’s the debut of a whole new edition of the Age of Sigmar.

New rules. New points. And a pre-order window that comes with a queueing system that will finally let Warhammer fans experience what Taylor Swift fans have been dealing with for a while now. But as Age of Sigmar enters its Skaventide era, here’s what you need to know.

Next Week: All Skaven All the Tide

Skaventide is a big old boxed set. And you might be thinking, well sure, there’s gonna be a lot of stuff in it. But you’re underestimating just how packed with warp-soaked vermin it’s going to be. We’re talking 50 rats. 24 Stormtides. 74 miniatures total.

On the side of the Stormcasts: A Lord-Vigilant on Gryph-Staker. A Lord-Terminos and Memorian, a Lord-Veritant with Gryph-vrow, and a Knight-Questor. Joining these heroes, are 10 Liberators, 3 Reclusians and Memorians, and 3 Prosecutors as well.

Skaven, meanwhile, get a Claw-lord on Gnaw-Beast, a Grey Seer, a Warlock Engineer, a Ratling Warpblaster, 3 Warplock Jezzails, 3 Rat Ogres, and 40 Clanrats. That is a lot of rats.

But it’s a new Edition as well. And that means a new Core Rulebook, which you will find in the boxed set as well. Inside the 227-page book is everything you need to play the game. All the Core and Advanced rules, the First Blood battlepack, the Path to Glory battlepack, and tons of new lore, including a fold-out cosmology of the Mortal Realms. All eight get explored in the new book.

And speaking of books, you’ll also find Spearhead: Fire and Jade in Skaventide. In this 144-page book, you’ll learn all about Age of Sigmar’s new game mode: Spearhead. Conveniently enough, you’ll have enough Stormcast and Skaven minis to build Spearhead forces for them. And for all the rest, their Spearhead rules are in the book.

So keep an eye out next week! Pre-order Skaventide and step into a whole new edition of Age of Sigmar. Just don’t eat the Skaventide Pods. They’re extra poisonous.
