‘Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast’: The Cozy RPG with Legacy Rules is Now Widely Available
Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast, the “slice-of-fantasy-life” RPG with a blend of legacy rules and minigames, is out in the wider world as of today.
Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast is many things. A cozy game. A slice of queer found-family fantasy life. And it’s also very tricky to pin down an exact “release date” for it. Because the game has been available for a while now in various formats. But it’s also officially released as of late yesterday.
This is due in part to the changing nature of the beast. The beast here is the tabletop gaming industry at large, not an actual beast. But Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast, like most RPGs that aren’t backed by their own publishing arm, had a crowdfunding campaign first. Back in 2022, the “found family, wooded bed & breakfast” RPG made a big splash. And then a year or so later, an even bigger one thanks to a partnership with the soon-to-be-shutdown One More Multiverse.
You’ve been able to snag digital versions of the game in one place or another. But the hardcover book, the actual release for rubes who didn’t back the campaign (I’m rubes), is available to order from publisher Possum Creek Games’ website. You can snag a hardcover book, which you may want to do, because Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast transforms through play.
The book is broken into chapters, each one a sort of “mini-game” with its own rules…and consequences. After each chapter you’ll make changes, add stickers, write things in, all the “legacy board game” type stuff you’ve come to know.
Afterwards, you’ll have your own unique version of Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast.

Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast is many things. It’s a bed and breakfast, of course, but it’s also this book. And this book is a book, of course, but it’s also a role-playing game—the sort of game we can play with our friends around a table, or on a voice call while hanging out, or even very, very slowly by mail.
Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast is played over the course of 48 chapters, each of which is a 1 to 2-hour scenario with its own unique but quick-to-learn rules. Players can take control of one of the 7 long-term residents of the B&B or choose from a cast of 50 quirky guests, each of whom has their own ongoing storylines.
If you’re getting some Spirited Away vibes from all this description, that’s the idea. Yazeba’s uses a blend of magic and the mundane to make for its storytelling. It also blends premade characters with modular rules, so that you can pick up and play without necessarily feeling lost.
