Games Workshop is releasing the goods for the next edition of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Here are the key dates you’ll need for free downloads.

Normally, when GW release a road map for future releases it’s for physical product. But in this case it’s all a bunch of digital downloads. Does that make this batch of releases GPS? Anyhow, these downloads are going to be free and they are kicking off next Monday. Let’s go through them.

“The action in the Mortal Realms won’t stop there, however – there’s a whole edition worth of new miniatures, battletomes, lore, and surprises to come. And it all starts with a big old bunch of free downloads beginning next Monday. Here’s what to expect.”

On Monday the 8th of July GW is kicking off with the Key Rules and Battle Profiles. This should allow everyone to get the core rules as well as their points together to build armies. The Key Rules include the Core Rules, Advanced Rules, Spearhead Rules, Terrain Rules, and Glossary. The Battle Profiles and rules updates are also dropping the same day.

After that, for the next four days we’ll see Faction Packs drop for each respective Grand Alliance. First is Order, then Chaos, followed by Death, and finally Destruction. Then, on the following Monday, the 15th of July, we’ll get the Regiments of Renown, Legends, and Rosters, too.

The Skaventide Boxed set will also be up for pre-order the whole time and you’ll also be able to snag copies in stores starting July 13th, too. It’s going to be quite the ramp-up in digital releases for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. I’m a little split about the release schedule. Personally, I would have liked to get all the faction packs on the same day. I guess we’ll just have to wait for our Grand Alliance to get their time in the spotlight.

Will no one think of the poor Mega-Gargants having to wait until the 12th to get their faction pack?!

Anyhow, with the launch box dropping on the 13th it’s good that everyone is getting their respective faction packs before the game officially releases. I can already foresee players getting games in as soon as their faction packs hit now — and that’s a good thing!

I guess the real question is going to be if I should kick things off with a Spearhead game or just dive right into the full blown Matched Play games?! Decisions, decisions…

What are you launch day plan for the new Warhammer: Age of Sigmar edition? Start with Spearhead or go straight for 2k Matched Play?
