Games Workshop Rumor Engine: Tool Box or Lunch Box?
Games Workshop has a brand new Rumor Engine today. Either someone is about to get some work done or go on a lunch break.
Welcome to another Tuesday! It’s that time of the week where we get a look at an image teasing a future release from Games Workshop. That’s right: it’s Rumor Engine time! So the image from today certainly a box of some kind. But have a look and judge for yourself.
“Here’s a juicy rumour for you – we’ve heard that sometimes, in the far-off future of the 41st Millennium, people need to store things… inside other things. Boxes, if you will. Here comes one now.”
Rumor Engine: Tool Box or Lunch Box
My first guess was that this was Tool Box, but the text asks the same follow-up question I had myself. Perhaps this IS someone’s lunch box! But if that’s the case I think we can rule out Tyranids.
Anyhow, this one has me leaning hard into the 40k side of the house. Sorry Age of Sigmar, I don’t think anyone is rocking a tool/lunch box like this in the Mortal Realms. And I’m also curious about that hand (or claw?) holding the handle. Is that a robot hand? I think it could be. But I don’t think that’s a Necron either.
It kind of reminds me of the Leagues of Votann. Their robot friends have similar hands. Plus, they have those Iron-Masters and other “engineer” type characters running around with loads of tool. Also, they are living creatures who still need to bring their lunch (I’m guessing). Perhaps one of these Votann Mechanic-types is getting a robot to carry his lunch for him!
Another option is the Adeptus Mechanicus. Although I’m less sold on those machine cult priests carrying a tool box with them. Which is kind of funny as you’d think they’d have some tools to work all those cogs they’ve got everywhere.
I’m not going to rule them out. Those robot digits are also similar in design, too. At this point I’m a little stuck with the Leagues of Votann for this image. So that’s where you come in! If you’ve got a different theory or other evidence as to what or who could be holding this box let us know in the comments.
Also, if you think it’s a lunch box, what do you suppose they are bringing with them? There’s probably a thermos for their drink in there, right? I’m guessing a sandwich of some kind, too.
Maybe if the Tyranids packed a lunch they wouldn’t be so hangry all the time…
