The Vikings need a new jarl and you’re the one for the job! Prove your worth by gathering up all the precious (and mostly undefended) Looot!

Looot is a worker placement and tableau building game where players need to gather resources and capture buildings to develop their fjord. Each player is trying to earn the most victory points so they can become the next Jarl of the Vikings! Looot plays is only about 30 minutes and is for ages 10 and up, so it’s a great option for family game night.

Looot Overview

At the start of the game, players will set up the game board filled with resources, houses, watchtowers, castles. Longships will also be placed along one edge of the map. This board is shared between all players and the board where players will place their vikings. Players will all also have their own personal fjord. Captured resources and buildings will be placed on a players fjord board (That’s fun to say. Try it.)

On each players turn, they will place one of their vikings on the map, so long as it is adjacent to any other viking or to a longship. So as the game progresses, the viking will move deeper and further inland. Each time a viking is placed, the player can collect that resource and place it on their fjord board. Once a resource is placed, it can not be moved. This is important because players each have constructions that require certain resources to be adjacent in order to complete the construction.

Once all players have placed all of their vikings, the game is over and points are tallied. Points are scored by collected and captured buildings and longships. Plus, there are additional bonuses based on collected resources, but any uncompleted longships will cost points. Whichever player has the most victory points wins the game and is the new jarl!

Looot is a family-friendly game that is a great way to introduce younger players to higher level gaming concepts without being overly confusing. But, it’s got enough strategy to entertain gamers of all skill levels. Takes only minutes to learn, but will provide countless game nights of fun!
