Atomic Mass Games is back with previews for Team Tactic Cards as well as the new Card Rotation List for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Ministravaganza 2024 is going strong and AMG just wrapped up a panel on the Team Tactic Cards for MCP. They went over how they start their process and develop the rules for the cards. Turns out, they actually start with the art and then write the rules to match. Pretty neat! Anyhow, let’s get into the card previews that were shown off.

Team Tactic Card Previews

First up, fittingly, is The First One. This is a new card coming with Apocalypse.

While it might be an unaffiliated card, you need Apocalypse in the list to actually use it. This really gives the player some options during your games. You’re essentially sacrificing an allied character so Apocalypse gets to go again. And if that character was injured, it’s basically a 1/2 activation.

And speaking of Apocalypse, we also got to see another one of his cards with Survival.

Now, this might be coming in his pack but I think it’s going to be worth taking for a lot of other teams. It basically ensures you’re able to activate a formerly dazed character first at during your next turn.

Another big teaser/preview was for Sunspot/Warlock’s pack. Check this out:

New Mutant Affiliation confirmed! This is a really cool card and has a few hidden gems of characters. In the art there are the characters: Arcade, Sunshot, Magik, Mirage, and I don’t know if that’s Feral or Wolfsbane. Mostly because I didn’t really follow the New Mutants that closely. And if it’s not Feral or Wolfsbane, please drop me a line in the comments with who that is!

Mephisto is coming to MCP and, because they had to, AMG is forcing us all to relive Brand New Day…

Oh this story line…anyhow, I don’t think AMG could have better represented Mephisto with any other card. It essentially offers the opponent a choice and neither option is *good* for them — only Mephisto. That’s the most iconic type of deal Mephisto would ever do.

Next up is another Mephisto card. This one is the most METAL thing MCP has ever done (in terms of art, anyhow).

Mephisto on a throne of Skulls and blades? Yeah. That needs to be on a shirt or poster or SOMETHING. I don’t even know what the card does (okay, I do because I can read it) and I don’t really care (also not true, I do care). I just want to include in because it’s that METAL.

Also, the card applies Incinerate to other characters within range 3 of Mephisto. That’s including Allies. And if those Allies happen to attack, not only do they get re-rolls, if they do damage they can then remove the Incinerate condition. That actually seems really good! Burn your enemies and “buff” your friends at the same time.

Card Rotation

Marvel: Crisis Protocol has a LOT of Team Tactic Cards. So, as the game grows and changes, AMG has a Card Rotation option to remove cards from the “Season” of the game to keep things fun and balanced. If a card is over performing it might end up on this list as these are the ones that are rotating out of the game.

If you notice the two cards in yellow. Deception and X-Ceptional Healing. Those are being removed from the pool but are getting “replacement” options instead.

Stolen Identity – Deception Replacement Card

AMG explained their reasoning for pulling Deception as it basically allow for a turn one play that wasn’t really fun or healthy for the game. This version still allows for Mystique to cause some Hijinx but there is now some better counter-play options.

Instant Recover – X-Ceptional Healing Replacement Card

AMG explained this replacement as a way to be a more thematic option. The problem with X-Ceptional Healing was that it basically shut down big dice spikes of damage. It took a moment that should be a big, critical moment and just said “nah, didn’t happen.” Now, Instant Healing leans more into the fantasy of super regeneration. The character has to survive the hit first and then they can spend the energy to survive harder. I like this new approach (even though it nerfs some of my favorite characters).

The new cards (above) are available in the 2024 Team Tactic Card Updates on the Atomic Mass Games Website HERE. You can download them for print-and-play right now.
