D&D Direct: WotC Announces New Dragon Anthology Book Featuring Dragons in Dungeons
Dragons in Dungeons. What a concept! Here’s what we know about D&D’s first “adventure anthology” book that will use the 5.5E Ruleset.
At the D&D Direct, which takes its inspiration from the Nintendo Direct – and is in many ways functionally identical to it, especially when it comes to having no news for Hollow Knight Silksong fans – Wizards of the Coast announced the first big adventure book that will use the new ruleset: the Dragon Anthology.
D&D’s New Adventure Book Will Put Dragons in Dungeons – So Watch Out
Just in time to benefit from the new Monster Manual will be the Dragon Anthology. Now, this is just a placeholder title, I’m sure. There’ll probably be some kind of more evocative name. However, Dragon Anthology is pretty good – it does make it sound like an anthology of some of the best adventures from Dragon Magazine, which would be an incredible book to have (WotC, get in touch) – but the book will actually be about Dragons.
It’s an adventure anthology in the style of Candlekeep Mysteries or Journeys through the Radiant Citadel. Inside, you’ll find ten short adventures, each featuring at least one dragon inside of at least one dungeon. Maybe more, but not less. And that’s not hyperbole either, as WotC outlines in the video:
“This anthology is all about dragons… in dungeons. And it’s kinda surprising how many people say that they’ve actually never fought a dragon in D&D. It is a book of ten short adventures that all feature dragons in dungeons.”
– D&D Direct
The new book will show off the new looks and personalities of the dragons redesigned in the 2025 Monster Manual, which will be released in February 2025. And a collection of ten dungeons with ten dragons is a boon to any DM.
Look for the Dragon Anthology in “Summer 2025”!
