We’ve got another image from the Games Workshop Rumor Engine and this is a tough one to figure out. At least it’s got skulls. Lots of skulls.

It’s another Tuesday which means it’s time for a new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Today’s image is a cage full of skulls. This one falls into that category of images that you can tell what they are but are still super vague. Here take a look and see what I mean.

“It’s summer, and the skull fields are in full bloom. Whoever is carrying this punnet of fresh-picked craniums is surely on their way to bake a delicious pie for their mother.”

Rumor Engine – The Skull Cage

Clearly, this is a cage/basket full of skulls. The problem is trying to identify who that belongs to. Why is that a problem? Because Warhammer and Skulls go together like peas and carrots. Or peanut butter and jelly. Or whatever other two things that go together really well.

Additionally, skull are pretty universal for Warhammer across all the different systems. This could be a basket of skulls in 40k or in AoS. There’s nothing overly sci-fi or fantasy about this one.

Obfuscating this one even more is the fact that this could also be from just about any faction. I could see this being a Khorne-worshiping chaos follower’s basket. But I could also see this as a holy relic that pilgrims are carrying. It’s also a bunch of skulls and the undead love their skulls. Or maybe its a war trophy for the forces of destruction.

This one Rumor Engine is perfectly frustrating. You know what it is. You can see it clearly! But there’s no obvious tells as to what this one could be. Maybe we work backwards on this one. Who can we rule out?

At least we can rule out one specific armies: Tyranids. I don’t see them carrying this one around. I’d also toss Orks and Aeldari in that mix as not very likely. This also doesn’t fit with most of the AoS Aelves-vibes either. So Sylvaneth, Lumineth Realm-lords, and Idoneth Deepkin are probably safe to take off the table. I also don’t think this one is Seraphon. The cage looks too clean to be Nurgle related as well. I don’t think it’s very dwarf-y either. So we can probably rule out Fyreslayers. Oh and I don’t see a lot of skulls from the Leagues of Votann now that I think about it.

We roll pretty skull free…

Okay this is taking a lot longer than I was hoping. I’m throwing in the towel for this Rumor Engine. If you’ve got some theories drop us a line in the comments. This one is a doozy!

A cage/basket full of skulls? Yeah, that’s pretty Warhammer if you ask me!
