Goatboy’s Grimdark Army List – Blood Angels Angelic Host of Beatdowns
Goatboy here with the new Codex: Blood Angels Angelic Host detachment is pretty dang neat. This is a mean 40K armylist that can jump all over the tabletop to victory.
I don’t know how many Blood Angels Jump Troops you really need but I thought – why not throw in some Dreadnoughts, get some jump dudes, and see what I can figure out with the listed points in the new codex. I don’t think the points are exactly right in the book but we’ll have to see when GW updates it in the next few weeks as we wait for a true release of the codex.
The Blood Angels Can Use Suppressors – REALLY!
With the Space Marine points being pretty locked in let’s look at a few things there I would want to throw into this army. There is a very cheap “Jump” troop option for the Codex that is perfect for those 40K missions where you need to get to a tricky corner, objective, or area of the battlefield. I am talking about the Suppressors Squad. For 85 points you get 3 models with the needed Jump Pack rule, a suppression rule that isn’t terrible, and a gun that can shoot from far away thus letting them not get to close if they need to. This is pretty dang good and if you happen to have some – be happy as you might get to use them again!
From there, we need to look at Inceptors too, as they can also give you some much-needed firepower as well as their built-in Close Deep strike rule. They are also very tough, have a decent amount of wounds, and so they are a must-have in this army idea. This isn’t going to be a large army and I think some focus on keeping the Character limit low will do wonders to ensure we don’t give up too much on Assassination.
I don’t want to go into the Death Company side of things yet, as I think can leave that for another armylist write up. I do think having a unit or two might be a good idea especially used as a “bother the enemy” unit. However, I do think Death Company end up doing better in the Lost Brethren or the Liberator Assault Group option over the Angelic Host side of things.
Enough Chatter let’s get to building.

Angelic Host of Beatdowns Tactics
Shows sitting at 1960 pts and most likely having enough room in case Mephiston, The Sanguinary Guard, or Dante go up in points if they really show up. I went with Vanguard Vets as they can be another annoying 4+ save unit that isn’t nearly as big to jump around and be a pain in the butt to remove. The Dreadnoughts can form a middle ground with Mephiston roaming the battlefield. Dante and the Sanguinary guard can help shore up some counter punch as needed while all the other things jump around, shoot things, and just be a pain in the butt.
For the Emperor!
