Larian Studios celebrates Baldur’s Gate 3 with a lovely Thank You/Anniversary video teasing “something new, something shiny, something big.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a video game so good we have yet to feel the full weight of its impact and it’s already been out a year. Larian Studios raised the bar, raised the stakes, and raised the roof with this critically and commercially successful release, managing the trick of creating a new set of beloved adventurers while also being so good at homebrewing D&D that the designers of the tabletop game changed some of the new rules.

To say nothing of how the industry will shift in the wake of this behemoth success. Will they duplicate it? Who can say? Larian is on to what comes next. The studio’s passion and enthusiasm are infectious, though, and inspired by its fanbase. Larian CEO Swen Vincke celebrates in a new Thank You video that celebrates the incredible community that’s sprung up around the game.

You’ll be seeing Karlachs, Shadowhearts, and especially Alfiras at conventions for years to come. But what’s next? Let’s take a look.

Anniversary Video is a Big Thank You to Fans and a Look Ahead

The video, which went live on Larian’s new Channel from Hell, celebrates cosplayers and streamers and a surprising number of people doing musical covers of “Down by the River.” You’ll see everything from Halsin romancing everyone (including Withers)

We will never stop being grateful for how you made Baldur’s Gate 3 so much more than we ever imagined it could be.

The last 12 months changed our lives. Thank you. For everything. Here’s to you, and your next adventure 🧡

To a scarily accurate looking Orin (if you know, you know).

The love for the game and the studio is palpable, but so, too, is the studio’s love for its community. That’s been a huge part of why the game was so successful. The communication between Larian and their community is not only open but energetic. And as Swen Vincke says, Larian plans to take that energy and turn it into “something new, something shiny, something big.”

Details on what Larian is working on next are sparse, at best. But as Vincke has said, “the machine was built to make big games,” referring to the investments in the studio made over the course of Baldur’s Gate 3. While the story for Divinity: Original Sin took only a few days to complete, Baldur’s Gate 3 was a whole other beast. And now, with that blade sharpened by one release, we look forward to seeing whatever is next from Larian.
