Magpie Games Announces ‘Fallen London’ Tabletop RPG
Magpie and Failbetter Games announced a new team-up that’s a blast from the browser-based past: Fallen London the Roleplaying Game.
Fallen London is a name that conjures up visions of 2009—because that’s when I got into the game. But even if you never played Failbetter Games’ browser-based game of a Victorian London that had literally fallen into a vast underground hollow-Earth-style cavern called “the Neath,” you might still be familiar with the game and its world.
Because Fallen London had two critically acclaimed spinoff games: Sunless Sea and the follow-up Sunless Skies, both of which inhabit the Neath.
If you aren’t familiar with either, go find them. They’re out on many different platforms by now, and both are absolutely worth playing. But now, the world of Fallen London is coming to the tabletop in an RPG of its very own, being brought to you by Magpie Games, designers of the Root RPG and Avatar Legends.
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game
In Fallen London: the Roleplaying Game, players create their own characters by drawing on the factions, archetypes, and settings of the city — cutthroats, socialites, radicals, academics, and other, stranger creatures. They are brought together by a shared ambition; a very nearly unachievable goal. Such ambitions may destroy or drive mad those who pursue them… or they may change London forever. The Heart, as they say, is Destiny’s engine.
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game is slated for release in late 2025 along with a supplement, Fallen London: Secrets of the Neath. In addition, players will be able to complete their tools for gameplay with the Fallen London Dice Pack and Fallen London Gamemaster Screen. Gameplay will consist of proprietary game mechanics currently in development by Magpie Games.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time that Fallen London has been in the tabletop sphere. Sunless Skies had an adaptation from Honey Heist designer Grant Howitt. But this will delve into the city itself. The whole nine yards of Fallen London and several supplements besides will be yours, coming 2025.
You can see the project in full in a special live stream coming August 23rd at 3pm Central Time over on the YouTube channel for Johnny Chiodini, who you might know from Let’s Plays or Oxventure.
