Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Angel & Archangel Unboxing Brings On The Wings
The new Character Pack for Angel and Archangel is coming and we’ve got a look inside the box for Marvel: Crisis Protocol!
Yesterday we looked at Apocalypse in all his unboxed glory. Today we’ve got possibly his most famous horsemen with us as Angel and Archangel have landed in our hands. Thanks to AMG, we’ve got a review copy and I got to unpack this one. I’ve been waiting for this character to show up for a while and I’m glad he’s finally here — in both his forms. Let’s take a look inside his box see what we’re actually getting.

Angel & Archangel Unboxed
The contents of this character pack are the standard components you’d expect with an MCP product. We’ve got multiple sets of cards for the various languages supported in one baggy. In the other we’ve got the sprues and bases for the miniatures included. Pretty straightforward in that regard.
For the sprues there’s a pair for the miniatures and the bases:
Each version of Angel/Archangel gets their own sprue. I really like this setup from the manufacturer as it makes assembly really, really easy. If all the bits you need for one character are on a single sprue, you just need to go down the line and you’ve got all the bits clipped. You’ll want to clean them up if there are any nubs or mold lines to take care of. I also liked how everything fit together with these minis. Like other MCP minis, they really only fit together one way. Archangel DOES have two different heads you can choose from if you want to do a face-swap.
I did end up building these minis and we’ll cover that at a later date. Overall, I liked the clever use to “wind gusts” to pose Angel higher. Archangel has a pillar that he’s kind of slamming through. It’s kind of a funny one because I’m not sure if he’s rebelling against Apocalypse by slamming into it or if he’s just in the middle of battle and is trying to make a quick getaway.
He’s also got those smaller “mini wings” on his back. I never really noticed them before but after seeing them in person I kind of like’em!
The Angel and Archangel box is a rare character pack that comes with two of the same character. Obviously, they are different forms of Warren Worthington III but unlike other characters that transform, you can’t swap them back and forth. It’s just a one and done swap. We talked about this aspect of Angel and Archangel before and it’s one of things that makes him really unique.
Fallen does require a Team Tactic card slot to add to your lists but I think it’s totally worth it. You’re able to swap out Angel for Archangel and you’re essentially trading up a Threat 3 to a 4. Sure, you have to start him on the Injured side but Angel was about to be there anyhow. That 100% seems worth it.
As a random aside, now that Archangel is coming to the game, I can finally add him to my collection as part of the X-Men characters on X-Men #1 (1991).

This art piece is pretty icon and it’s a pretty formative image of the X-Men to me. It’s right up there with the 90’s X-Men cartoon for me. I can’t wait to get him painted up for it now!
