The Asgardian Shrine Terrain Pack is a fantastic addition to the Marvel: Crisis Protocol Terrain range. Let’s explore it!

Atomic Mass Games has released the new Asgardian Shrine Terrain Pack to go along side the new character pack for the Asgardians. They sent us a review set and I had the pleasure of taking a closer look. This set is a keeper!

Inside the box you’ll get the standard baggie with all the sprues in side as well as another with the new One-Shot cards for use with this kit. As a quick detour, we talked about those rules already. But incase you missed them the cards are included in multiple languages, too.

These rules are optional so you don’t have to use them when you place with this kit. But let’s take a look at the sprues!

These are a fairly straightforward set of sprues. I did assemble them and I’m going to do a deeper dive on that later on. But for now I want to just focus on these contents are right out of the box. One thing that really stood out to me with these sprues is the textures on them. The surfaces are flat but not smooth. They are clearly supposed to be stone that’s been worked.

I think painting this kit is going to be a lot easier than other kits thanks to that texture. And it’s not just one repeating stone-work either. There’s loads of lines and some of the more “rough” rock to work on. Those rough spots are going to make simple techniques like drybrushing layers on this kit really do some work. I can’t wait to give it a go.

Atomic Mass Games has a great conversion tutorial on this kit for some other possibilities!

Aside from the textures I think this kit has a lot of other cool details. I like the statue for instance and it pairs nicely with the other Asgardian themed kit, too. And don’t worry — I’ll be covering that one later as well. The material is plastic, but it’s more like the plastic you’d expect from terrain kits. This thicker and feels sturdier than some of the finer miniatures. It’s still extremely easy to work with.

I think that this kit is a step in the right direction for the MCP Terrain Packs. It seems like each of these “theme” sets is really diving in and exploring those themes more and more. Will the Asgardian Shrine clash with say your modern urban terrain? Yeah, probably! But it’s a game based on comic book characters and having a not-Starbucks stand next to an Asgardian Shrine is FAR from the weirdest thing in comic-land.

The good new is this kit is already out in the wild! If you want to get your own copy you can do that right now from your FLGS or by ordering one online.

Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Asgardian Shrine Terrain Pack $79.99

“While bringing the heroes of Asgard to the table, why not bring the might and beauty of Asgard itself to your Marvel: Crisis Protocol games. The Asgardian shrine is a beautiful piece of terrain featuring crumbling ruins atop a raised dais before a statue honoring a valkyrie—one of the legendary warriors of Asgard who keeps watch over those who shelter in her abode. This set also includes optional rules for players to use with the terrain to keep things interesting. “
