The Battle For Asgard has a lot of extra ruins you can use to sprue up your Marvel: Crisis Protocol games. It’s scatter terrain for all!

Yesterday we took a look at the Asgardian Shrine Terrain Pack and today we’re diving into it’s companion box. Once again, AMG sent us this review copy and I got to unbox it to show off exactly what you’re getting inside the box. Let’s dive in!

This box art is a little misleading — there’s a lot more in the box than just what’s on the cover.

Battle For Asgard Unboxing

Kicking things off like I typically do with these unboxings we have all the components. Everything comes in the typical plastic baggy and we also have one for all the One-Shot cards. Or rather, card. It’s the same card but in different languages which is something AMG has been moving toward for most of their products at this point.

We already did a rules breakdown for this One-Shot card. So if you want to check that out feel free to read my thoughts on this particular optional card. But now to the part I’m most excited about: the sprues!

So this is the part that I’m honestly most confused about. And it’s also why I do these unboxing the way I do them. Take a look at the contents laid out. This isn’t some sort of camera trick. I didn’t photoshop anything in the picture. I did crop it a bit to make it fit but there’s no photo manipulation here.  These are just the contents laid out and I took a photo. Now, why am I making a big deal out of this? Well…here’s the description of what’s included:

That’s directly from the website. And just to be sure I’m not messing things up, here’s the back of the box. Again, from the website:

Notice anything different?

  • 1x Statue – check
  • 2x Fire Signal Miniatures – check
  • 1x Statue Head – check
  • 2x Brazier Miniatures – There are 4 total
  • 1x Node Miniature – there are 2 of them

So I don’t know if I got some sort of freak accidental box or what at this point. Maybe it’s just mis-labeled. Maybe the Braziers and the Nodes are supposed to be doubled. I really don’t know! But what I do know is that I built all of them. I’ll showcase that later. But for now, I’m still scratching my head with this set in terms of what I got in the box vs what’s list on the back. In this case, it’s technically a win for the players as we’re getting MORE stuff than what’s labeled.

Yeah — it’s all that…and then some!

Scatter Terrain, Asgardian Style

Again, I’m not 100% sure of what happened with the box I go. I really doubt someone snuck in a few extra sprues because this box was being sent to us. I don’t think we’re *that* cool. Either way, I’m pleased with this boxed set. As far as the actual sprues go they are all really nice. The details are good. Much like the Asgardian Shrine, they have loads of textures on them and should be fantastic to paint-up.

What I really like about this kit is how you get a lot of different sizes of terrain to work with. Having those different sizes for the terrain can lead to more interesting games with terrain interactions. If you’re looking to spice-up your table with a strong Asgardian theme, then getting this box and the Asgardian Shrine is a great way to do that. The best part is you can do that right now as this kit is currently available for order from your FLGS or the Asmodee website.

“Bring the might and beauty of Asgard to your Marvel: Crisis Protocol games with this expansion pack full of themed scatter terrain. These terrain elements feature ancient crumbling stone statues and ruins, flaming braziers, and more. This set also includes optional rules for players to use with the terrain to keep things interesting.”

Did I get a freak-accident box or are the contents mislabeled?
