Apocalypse is coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol and we’re taking a dive into his box and answering a very important question.

We got Apocalypse in the house and I’m SUPER excited about this miniature and his addition to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. AMG sent us a review/preview copy and I had the pleasure of getting to tear into this one! Apocalypse is one of my favorite Marvel characters. He can be brutal and cruel as he firmly believes in survival of the fittest. So let’s check out how fit he really is — or at least what’s in his character pack.

Apocalypse Unboxed

Popping the box, it’s got everything you’d expect to be inside. There’s a baggy for his cards and another for his sprues. No major surprises there. You also get a TON of cards due to the fact this box supports multiple languages.

We already took a deeper look at his cards and rules so if you want to check out that breakdown you can do that here. Needless to say he’s an absolute UNIT. At 6 Threat he’s the centerpiece for the Horsemen of the Apocalypse Affiliation. I’m not going to lie playing as his affiliation is going to be tough to master. There’s a lot of moving pieces and options to go with. Running this team is going to be a challenge but a rewarding one for sure.

In terms of the sprues you get two in the box. One is just for Apocalypse which includes his special base. The other is for the two statues that come with him. As far as build options go, you’ve got two sets of arms you can mix-and-match. You can go with the two open hands or you can go with the blaster/buzz-saw option. Or you can magnetize them if you’re so inclined! If I had a Dremel or some other rotary tool it wouldn’t be tough to do at all. Alas, I don’t have access to one. So I opted for just going with the hands.

Yes, I did build him already! But I’ve got something special planned for the model showcase. However, I said at the top we’re going to answer an important question. That question is: Just how BIG is Apocalypse?! Well, I hope this helps illustrate his size.

He’s not as tall as Sentinel, and certainly not as tall the Sentinel Prime. He’s slightly taller than the Hulk but not as bulky. Which makes sense. He does count as size 4 in game terms and I think that’s probably appropriate. And keep an eye on that base…it’s going to show up later.

I’m extremely pleased with this mini and the boxed set. While I’m a bit bummed his ultimate encounter isn’t inside this box, I also kind of understand why: You really want the terrain to go with it. Plus, his box isn’t as big as say Dormammu. The entire Apocalypse release is a big one. I’m super stoked about all the products AMG is putting out for this wave. Apocalypse and the rest of his wave are coming out next month. You can pre-order him now if you want to get a jump on things.
