Pathfinder’s ‘Tian Xia Character Guide’ Adds Sword Arts, Ancestries, And More

Pathfinder released a new character guide for the boundless continent of Tian Xia this week. The new 136-page hardcover book has what you need to kit out your character for life in Tian Xia. Whether that’s making one of the six new ancestries, like a Tanuki (huge testicles are optional, as I understand it), or using some of the new feats and heritages for existing ancestries, like the new Bakua Lizardfolk option, there’s a ton of new options for characters hailing from Tian Xia, all gathered in one handy book.

As the name suggests, the new book is an in-depth look at making characters from Tian Xia. With an amazing writing team behind it, the book delves into Asian-inspired folklore through the lens of Golarion’s fantasy world, which is how you get some of the more unique heritages, like the Wayang, creatures from the Shadow Plane who dwell in the isles of Minata in Tian Xia.
Or play with the new archetypes, like the Five-Breath Vanguard, an elementalist monk that can cycle between elemental stances to great effect. There’s also a Spirit Warrior archetype for Fighters who channel their spiritual energy through their weapons – there’s even a magical girl option in the Starlit Sentinel, if you prefer to do your fighting evil by moonlight.
