Sentinels of the Multiverse is a fantastic cooperative game with tons of replayability thanks to its huge selection of heroes, villains, and environments.

For a long time, Sentinels of the Multiverse has been one of my favorite cooperative games. It’s certainly one of the most thematic board games out there. And we all know theme is very important in board games.

The sheer number of ways to play and variety of characters reached its culmination with OblivAeon, a few years back. But now, they’ve revamped and tweaked a few things here and there into Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition! And right now, you can pick it up over half off!

Sentinels of the Multiverse Overview

Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative card game where the ultimate goal of the players is to defeat the villain. Each villain has their own unique deck of cards, mechanics, and tricks they will throw at the heroes. Thankfully, each hero also has their own deck of cards, mechanics, and tricks they will throw at the villain. You know, like most comic books do.

The core gameplay is dead simple. On each players turn, they draw a card, play a card, and use a power. That’s it. But, more often than not, players will be able to use their cards to do more than the basic turn structure. Plenty of heroes can draw or play extra cards, or use extra powers. And fundamentally, many heroes allow their allies to do these things as well.

Sentinels of the Multiverse is a highly cooperative game. Players need to be able to work together to defeat the most powerful villains. And some of these villains are tough! Plus, each game will also play in a different environment. Maybe a dark and gritty city filled with rampant crime, maybe an ancient and forgotten world of dinosaurs and volcanoes, or maybe a twisted dimension where physics is just a suggestion. Each environment will add its own twist to the game as well.

One of the many great things about Sentinels of the Multiverse is the sheer number of ways to play. There are literally hundreds of combinations of heroes, villains, and environments. You could play every day for a year and never play the same game twice.

If you’re a fan of comic books, cooperative games with a strong sense of teamwork, or a fan of getting your money’s worth on a game, you’ll absolutely love Sentinels of the Multiverse.
