Star Wars: Shatterpoint – ‘This Is Some Rescue! Squad Pack’ Up Close
Star Wars: Shatterpoint brings in the iconic squad from the Death Star rescue. We’ve got the OG’s up close with this miniature showcase.
We already dove into the box to take a look at the contents of this Squad Pack. Now we’re taking an even closer look at the minis inside.
I am really excited about this particular squad because it’s basically ripped from Star Was: A New Hope. There’s loads of little nods here and there with these miniatures and I’m really pleased with how they turned out now that I can see them up close. Let’s dive in!
This Is Some Rescue! Squad Pack
We’ve got the all the OG classics here: Leia, Luke, Chewie, and Han! You already know this but these represent that moment in time when Luke, Han, and Chewie have “smuggled” themselves on to the Death Star and have instigated a prison break. Leia has been released but not exactly rescued. She’s actually the Squad Leader, too! Here’s her mini and you can see her taking aim…
This is such a classic Leia look. Hair buns, white dress and all. She’s standing over a grate that has a hole in it as well. I’m sure that’s probably the garbage chute that she blasts open to save everyone’s skins. Such a great scene!
Up next we have Luke with his “I’m here to rescue you” pose. He’s also plenty tall enough to be a Storm Trooper with this mini. You do have the option to use a different hand that’s not holding a helmet…but I think it’s just too perfect not to use. Honestly, now I’m curious what the squad could have looked like if it was Luke and Han without the Storm Trooper armor. They do take it off a few scenes later after all.
And then finally we get Chewie and Han. I love this duo. Han is running headlong into…something. Probably danger. Chewie is either swinging wildly or dashing after Han, too. The Han mini does have the option for a different face that’s not screaming a warcry. You can choose which one you like.
Look, Star Wars is a pretty formative memory for me. A New Hope is still one of my all-time favorites. Having this pack in my collection thanks to AMG is a cool feeling. Is this nostalgia-bait? Probably! Do I care that it is? Not one bit. This is one of those kits that I think anyone who’s a Star Wars fan from way back can appreciate. Even if you’re not planning on playing Shatterpoint getting these and making a diorama or something out of them is a very real thing. If you’re really hobby inclined you could even make a diorama/display for this squad. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m planning on doing.
