With Alien: Romulus getting great reviews, what better time to step into the shoes of the crew of the titularly ill-fated cargo ship in Alien: Fate of the Nostromo?

The Alien series is no stranger to board games. In fact, it may have one of the best movie tie-in games ever. But, if you’re looking for a game that will have you have you on the edge of your seat, will have you truly worried about your ultimate fate, and one that you can still actually buy, then Alien: Fate of the Nostromo might be for you.

Alien: Fate of the Nostromo Overview

Alien: Fate of the Nostromo is a cooperative tactics game. The goal of the players is to complete all the objectives for the scenario before crew morale reaches 0, or the ship self-destructs. Players will take turns in order, moving around the ship, picking up useful items, crafting others, and (as you might expect) running from the alien.

Throughout the ship will be secret Concealed tokens. When a player enters a room with one such token, it is revealed. The token can be nothing, or it can cause the players to lose morale. The players start with 15 morale, and will lose morale anytime they have to flee from the alien. There’s no combat in this game. C’mon, be serious. Players can also lose morale when they draw Encounter cards at the end of the turns.

While there may not be any combat, players can still craft useful items that will help them complete the objectives. Things like motion detectors, electric prods, or grappling gun can all provide various effects to aid the players.

As soon as the players complete all their objectives, their final objective is revealed. If they can complete this objective before they run out of morale, they win! However, some final objectives also will trigger the ship’s self-destruct, meaning players only have 4 rounds to get everything done.

Overall, Alien: Fate Of The Nostromo is a great way to get into the hearts and minds of Ripley and her crew (it’s her crew, be real). The game is super easy and fun and doesn’t require a graduate degree to understand the rules. If you’re looking for a great cooperative game that is equal parts tension and excitement, check out Alien: Fate Of The Nostromo.
