‘The Puppy Roll’ Is Maybe The Best D&D Charity Event of All Time – It Kicks Off Tomorrow
How do you make a D&D charity livestream amazing? You have a talented cast, including Matt Mercer and Aabria Iyengar, who play as their dogs.
Anjali Bhimani, whom you might recognize as the voice of Symmetra and/or Auntie Ruby from Ms. Marvel or as Fy’ra Rai from Critical Role or any number of other notable roles, has figured out what may be the ultimate secret to D&D. The answer? Puppies.
In The Puppy Roll, Bhimani will direct a charity livestream adventure in which a cast of celebrities, both D&D and otherwise, play D&D as their dogs. It sounds absolutely adorable. And it’s happening tomorrow. You won’t want to miss it. In fact, you’ll probably want to put aside your other responsibilities to watch the live stream. Here are the details.
Dogs Playing D&D
Critical Role’s Matt Mercer and Ashley Johnson join the Mandalorian’s Emily Swallow to play as pups playing the iconic RPG.
On August 20…PAWS WILL ROLL! Welcome to THE PUPPY ROLL, a charity D&D livestream event where your some of your favorite tabletop, gaming, and onscreen celebrities play D&D as their dogs to support Petco Love! Donate & learn more here.
With an all-star cast – Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Baldur’s Gate), Ashley Johnson (Critical Role, The Last of Us), Aabria Iyengar (Critical Role, Dimension 20), Maggie Robertson (Resident Evil, Baldur’s Gate), Emily Swallow (The Mandalorian) and DM Anjali Bhimani (Ms. Marvel, Critical Role) – this unprecedented live event is being streamed to raise funds for Petco Love.
Just look at that amazing cast. Matt Mercer as Omar, Aabria Iyengar playing her Worlds Beyond Number namesake Suvi, Maggie Robertson, aka Orin from Baldur’s Gate 3, playing her dog Cricket, and of course, Emily Swallow, the ARMORER from The Mandalorian playing the immaculately named Norma Jean Meatballs.
A sentence hasn’t been this good since Zendaya was Meechee. But why dogs?
Because of Petco Love. The Puppy Roll, which, if you’re wondering, is a play on the Puppy Bowl, benefits Petco Love, a “life-changing nonprofit organization that makes communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier.” It helps dogs – and helps explicitly by making sure that rescue organizations have the funding they need to find homes for their pets, with more than 6.8 million pets adopted and counting, as well as reuniting more than 50,000 pets with their families.
If that doesn’t make you tear up a little to think about, I don’t know what will. But you can donate to the campaign AND watch the livestream the day of through the link below:
