This A:TLA Katara Cosplayer Has Definitely Mastered Waterbending
At the next full moon, we’re going to take on the entire fire nation and we’re going to win with this Katara cosplay.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a TV show that’s managed to stay relevant years after its initial run. A follow up TV series, books, comics, and a huge fan community keep the series going strong. And honestly, it’s one of those shows that deserves all of the continued love that it gets. Avatar was one of those “children’s” shows that also isn’t. Sure, it’s appropriate for kids, but if you watched Avatar when you were little and loved it, you’ll love it even more and get even more out of it as an adult.
If you’re an Avatar fan, cosplayer Noor may just be the person on Instagram to follow. They may just be an expert on the series, and I’m pretty sure that they’re on a mission to cosplay every character. So picking which of their Avatar costumes to feature was a bit of a struggle. There are many and they’re all fantastic. In the end, I opted for their Katara cosplay based on this illustration by Toughtink.
It’s a cosplay that you can tell was made with love. Partially because there are many, many posts documenting the time and work that went into every detail of this outfit. But also because this is a cosplay where details aren’t overlooked, and despite being based on an original design, it’s still entirely recognizable. This is Katara, but make it fashion… And then spend hours hand painting and adding pearl and beat embellishments.
