The Blood Angels are getting a new Army Set for Warhammer 40,000 this weekend. Let’s see if it’s worth the price of admission!

We know the price of the upcoming Army Set for the Blood Angels. We also know what’s in the box, too. So it’s time to bust out the napkin and do some basic math to find out if this is a deal or not.

Blood Angels Army Set Pricing Breakdown

Contents:

Lemartes, Guardian of the Lost $45*

Astorath the Grim $45*

10x Jump Pack Intercessors $120

10x Assault Intercessors $62.50

Brutalis Dreadnought $80

**Based on four copies of the price of Salamanders Upgrade Pack – One more note on this estimate: It’s unclear if the GW text actually meant four sprues of upgrades or four full kits of upgrades. Looking at the other upgrade packs, each one come with two sprues of upgrades and costs $30. Here’s the quote:

The text does spell out “four new Blood Angels upgrade kits that are included” and when you combine that with the 293 transfers, it’s not unreasonable to assume that it’s four copies of the full kit. We’re going with the max amount but if you want a conservative estimate, just cut the price of the upgrades in half and you’re still looking at $60 in upgrades/transfer sheets.

***Based on the price of the Dark Angels Special Edition Codex Supplement

Even if we’re off on the cost of the upgrades, this box is still packing at least $247.50 in savings vs buying these miniatures individually. It’s also the first spot you’re going to be able to get your hands on the Codex Supplement for the Blood Angels, too. And Lemartes and Astorath!

I hesitate to say this but this Army Box has is such a good deal you could probably buy two copies of it and trade off the extra codex and characters…But maybe don’t do that. These boxes are hard enough to get on the day they come out. And with the discounts this box has I’m not looking forward to Saturday and the “sold out” images showing up on GW’s website. If you’re hunting for this one good luck.

I’m going to have to just wait to get the regular supplement, aren’t I?
