Warhammer 40K: Imperial Agents Pricing Breakdown – Ranking By Value
The Imperial Agents have gotten four boxes with their release. But which one is the best value? Let’s find out with math!
This past weekend we got our pricing confirmations from Games Workshop for the new Imperial Agents boxed sets and Combat Patrol. While the actual army isn’t exactly tearing up the excitement meter the possibilities for allies is off the charts. So we’re going to take a look at all four of their boxes and figure out which one is the best deal to rank them based on dollar value. Let’s do this thing!
Imperial Agents Pricing Breakdown
Combat Patrol: Imperial Agents $168
- 1x Ministorum Priest with Vindictor $35
- 1x Eversor Assassin $40
- 6x Inquisitorial Agents, with 1x Tome-skull $58
- 20x Vigilant Squad, with 2x Cyber-mastiffs, and 2x Nuncio-aquilas $125
- 2x Adeptus Arbites Transfer Sheets ???
Total Individual MSRP: $258
Total Savings:$90
This box does have some niche options and if you have ever wanted to quickly fill up your ranks with Adeptus Arbites, well, this is as close as you can get!
Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Malleus $215
- 1x Inquisitor Coteaz, with 1x Glovodan Psyber-eagle – Estimated Price: $40
- 1x Ministorum Priest with Vindictor $35
- 1x Culexus Assassin $40
- 1x Chimera $65
- 5x Grey Knights Terminator $60
- 14x Inquisitorial Agents $116
- 1x Astra Militarum Transfer Sheet ???
Total Individual Estimated MSRP $356
Total Estimated Savings: $141
Inquisitor Coteaz’s price might be an estimate but I think $40 is in the ballpark. If he’s cheaper, well, I don’t think he’s going to be that much cheaper. And if he’s more expensive the value of this box just goes up. Then again, I’m not sure how popular that particular sculpt for him will be (and judging by most of the reactions I’ve seen…not great).
Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Hereticus $215
- 1x Inquisitor Greyfax $35
- 1x Ministorum Priest $35
- 1x Immolator tank $84
- 10x Battle Sister Squad, with 1x Cherub $62.50
- 6x Inquisitorial Agents, with 1x Tome-skull $58
- 10x Adeptus Arbites, with 1x Cyber-mastiff, and 1x Nuncio-aquila $62.50
Total Individual MSPR: $337
Total Savings: $122
It’s worth noting that as of writing this article the Immolator Tank is currently out of stock on the GW US website. So…this box is the only way to order one online from GW. Check your FLGS because they might have some in stock if you just want an Immolator.
Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Xenos $215
- 1x Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus $37
- 1x Navigator $35
- 1x Corvus Blackstar $92
- 5x Deathwatch Veterans $45
- 6x Inquisitorial Agents with 1x Tome-skull $58
- 4x Rogue Trader Entourage and 6x Voidsmen-At-Arms $62.50
Total Individual MSRP: $329.50
Total Savings: $114.50
I do like those Deathwatch Veterans and the Covus Blackstar. Personally, if I was looking to just add allies, I’d go with this box. But… For $137 I could also just buy the two units I’d actually use from this box as allies.
Final Value Rankings
Based purely on the amount of cold, hard cash you’d save we’re ranking these boxes.
- Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Malleus $215 – Savings: $141
- Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Hereticus $215 – Savings: $122
- Imperial Agents Battleforce: Ordo Xenos $215 – Savings $114.50
- Combat Patrol: Imperial Agents $168 – Savings $90
The math doesn’t lie. The biggest savings out of all four of these boxes is the Ordo Malleus boxed set. That said, it’s a little unfair to compare them to the Combat Patrol. But hey, this is the grimdark and sometimes the Imperium plays a little unfair…or something.
Personally, I’m still not sold on the whole “Imperial Agents as an army” thing. They are kind of a hot mess. I think they work way better as an army that you ally into other armies. Or as an excuse to collect some of the cool models and have a way to play with them. If you’ve got a plan for them as an army let me know in the comments. I’m genuinely curious how folks want to use them.
Pour one out for the Deathwatch homies out there. Sorry for your loss.
