The Adeptus Mechanicus lead the charge as a new Horus Heresy book all about the Martian Civil War hits pre-orders.

Next week, Mars erupts in civil war. Well, technically it did ten thousand years ago in the grim darkness of the distant future, but also next week’s pre-order releases are all about that event. The Horus Heresy’s new book, The Martian Civil War explores the campaigns of the Age of Darkness, tihs time focusing on the war for humanity’s most important Forgeworld.

But what dread fate awaits on Mars? What hellish new machines were unleashed when treasonous forces made their play to wrest control of the planet. After portions of Mars seceded from the Imperium and battle for Mars broke out, how did the Tech-priests eventually bring it all to a head?

You can find out next week.

Horus Heresy: Martian Civil War Releases Up For Pre-Order Next Week

First up, the new book itself: The Martian Civil War is a 168-page hardback all about the twists and turns that the battle for Mars took. You’ll find rules for new core missions, apex missions, relic hunt missions, and even an Onslaught campaign for all these missions. You’ll also get rules for new units, Techno-heresy rules, and other Age of Darkness goodies.

More exciting, though, are the new miniatures. Starting with the Archmagos Prime. More machine than man, an Archmagos Prime is a commander of the Taghmata Omnissiah and the Machine Cult. They use Techno-arcana and advanced cybernetics to do the impossible.

But will it be enough to conquer and/or save Mars?

Almost certainly not. Which is where the Thallax Cohort comes into play. These are cyborgs integrated into Armoured frames with incunabulan jetpacks and even a bonus “modicum of independent thought”. If you like your war machines horrifying, these are perfect.

The Thallax in this kit come with lightning guns, as well as two phased plasma-fusils, photon thrusters, or multi-meltas.

Meanwhile the Castellax Battle-automata are unleashed. Their atomantic shields, shock chargers, power blade arrays, and bolters or flamers are complemented with shoulder-mounted mauler bolt cannons.

Or bring out the bigger guns with the Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata. Equipped with Hellex pattern plasma mortars, shock chargers, and a twin-linked mauler bolt cannon, these behemoths pack a huge punch.

Of course, there’s the Tech-thralls Covenant, which gives you twenty pieces of cannon fodder all in one easy box.

Then of course there’s the Triaros Armoured Conveyor, which uses advanced Techno-arcana in its design. Thick armor, techno-cant wardings, energy shields all work together to make this an extremely well defended transport, ready to take your cannon fodder right into the fields of fire of your artillery and live to return to do it again and again.

The Old World releases Warriors of Chaos

Meanwhile in the Old World, the Warriors of Chaos abound. Starting with the new Arcane Journal: Warriors of Chaos. This tome comes packed with new rules for your Warriors of Chaos outside of the Forces of Darkness book, including two armies of infamy: Wolves of the Sea and Heralds of Darkness, as well as new units, magic items, and more.

Show everyone what Warriors of Chaos can do with the Warriors of Chaos Battalion. In this 44 miniature box, you’ll get 32 Chaos Warriors and 10 Chaos Knights along with two Chaos Chariots which could also be Gorebeast Chariots.
