Age of Sigmar: Clan Skryre Unleash The Machines of War With These Rules Previews
Skaven Clan Skryre are bringing mechanical monstrosities thanks to their engineers and warlocks. Let’s see what they will do in Age of Sigmar!
There’s a massive wave of Skaven goodies coming this weekend to pre-order. Games Workshop has been revealing their rules this week and today we’re getting a taste of the crazy engines of war that Clan Skryre is using. Get ready for warp lightning, ratling guns, and the warpvolt weapons!
“Warplock Engineers worship [the Great Horned Rat] by building these war machines and weapons, tinkering obsessively to create death-dealing contraptions which burn, flense, scour, and shock their unfortunate victims… almost as often they explode in the faces of their operators. The Clans Skryre maintain their position of power by then auctioning these deadly machines off to the highest bidder, and it is rare to see a Clawlord go to war without a complement of Warp Lightning Cannons, or a Warpspark Weapon Battery or two.”
Skaven Clan Skryre
The head honchos for Clan Skryre are the Arch-Warlocks. These ratmen are the “masterful inventors” who come up with these crazy contraptions. There combination of technology and sorcery has led to some awe-inspiring machines of war. That also makes them great at command the troops — or at least instructing them how to use their toys properly.
But when it comes to the real guns it’s all about those Skaven Weapon teams. These are a key element to the Skaven arsenal. What’s truly Skaven-y about these teams is that they can “hide” in a unit of Clanrats. Sort of.
This is an interesting concept for sure! I guess it’s nice that the Skaven player has to actually place the models on the table before a “surprise” Warpfire Thrower leaps out and bakes a unit. They might be non-targetable before that…but I think it’s more visually interesting. It’s also worth noting that part about another friendly weapon team within combat range.
Clan Skryre isn’t just about guns though. They have quite a few other machines they can toss at the enemy with devastating results. The Warp-Grinder for instance can bring in a unit “danger close” which can lead to some very Skaven shenanigans.
Gee, what would make a good pairing with a Warp-Grinder? How about a Doom Flayer!?
If nothing else your opponent won’t be able to ignore the Doom Flayer that’s now in their lines, smashing things to bits. That’s one creative way for the Skaven to do things!
The Skaven are up for pre-order this weekend. Are you ready for the Clan Skryre machines to run rampant?
